Princess Beatrice & Princess Eugenie Step Out To Royal Ascot (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 06/14/11 05:45 PM ET   Updated: 08/14/11 06:12 AM ET

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie of York both stepped out to the opening day of the Royal Ascot in England on Tuesday.

Beatrice kept it surprisingly low-key -- picking a wide-brimmed hat to pair with her sheath and fitted jacket -- while Eugenie matched her flower-adorned fascinator with a jade green, lacy frock and cropped white coat.

Both gals toted gloves and clutches.

Take a look.

I must be missing something, where's the beauty?

Beatrice looks absolutely lovely. She has a very "I'd ike to get to chat with her" appearance. I hope she's learned that looking offensive has its' place. And it isn't at a wedding. For those who bemoan her looking ordinary there's bound to be occasions where she'll show her adventrous side. But perhaps maturity and self-worth are beginning to enter her life.

Finally figured out who the red haired one reminds me of - Anne of Green Gables - if she was an actress - that would be the part for her

Eugenie's coat just cuts her in half. These girls could be so much prettier if someone would freaking talk to them about what is appropriate on their frames. Appearance is part of their jobs, so get it together ladies!

I like the girls outrageous hats, their little girls, give them a break and let them express themselves. People today are such control freaks, leave the girls alone.

I don't really like many of their outfits, but recently Beatrice seems to have been scared straight into wearing too serious and too drab outfits. This was how she looked 2 days ago:

It's a great outfit, but it doesn't seem like Beatrice's usual style, not to mention the outfit would have looked better on someone in their 30s, not a 23 year-old. She seems to have lost that spark she used to have when wearing those outrageous outfits and hats. There's no sense of fun in that navy-teal outfit at all. She looks like she's trying hard not to stand out anymore.

On one hand, it's good because it doesn't attract much attention esp. after the royal wedding. On the other hand, she might be another royal who's been told to conform by the grey men of "The Firm", and she's only in her 20s. She still has a lot of time to mature and develop a better fashion sense.

That's what the British Royals, and to some extent, the British public, seem to be good at, crushing the life out of the women in their family, it's a shame. Poor Beatrice and Eugenie.

From the comments in British online newspapers, the public came down very hard on the girls because of their outfits at William and Kate’s wedding. Yet, I hope the girls resist conformity and continue to express their individuality as they must live their lives for themselves and not their family (who recently took away their Scotland Yard protection (now they only get protection when they perform official duties)), nor the British public who doesn’t seem to be in their corner anyway.

There comes a point where the line between daring and freakish gets crossed. Maybe if these two learn restraint they'll apply it to their more adventuresome outfits and not look like went to the wrong function. There's nothing wrong with maturing in one's style. ANd there's nothing wrong with standing out. But when you go to a wedding you shouldn't look as though you really belong at a costume party.

they obviously paid attention to the lecture they got from their grandmother the Queen. the glare those two girls got from Grandma at the wedding would have frozen water.

The good news is that for a long, long time, every time we see these two we'll think, Man they look a million times better than they did at that wedding - and they do. Beautiful young women, who will probably just get even more beautiful as they mature.

Kate needs to give her two new cousins a complete makeover. I know Beatrice and Eugenie could look much better than they do now.

Walking on turf in spike heels-- that takes talent. How not to get stuck or mud covered heels: priceless!

She looks like her mother. And her sister looks just like their father.

If you compare Beatrice to paintings of Q. Victoria, she does resemble her.
