Dalai Lama Confuses Australian Prime Minister's Gender After She Refuses To Meet With Him (VIDEO)

Dalai Lama Confuses Australian Prime Minister's Gender

The Dalai Lama seems to be getting the best of everyone these days.

First there was this joke, which backfired on the reporter who asked it, and now there's this clip from a conference at the Australian Parliament House yesterday where the Lama accidentally refers to the Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, a man.

The mistake seems to be accidental, and he quickly corrects himself after an aide quietly corrects him.

The slip-up seems particularly pointed though, as the Dalai Lama responded to the fact that the PM would not be meeting with him during his visit to the country, according to the Telegraph.

"If your prime minister has some kind of spiritual interest then of course my meeting would be useful," he said to reporters (as can be seen in the video). "Otherwise, I have nothing to ask him. Also, you see, there's no point to seek advice from him."

According to the Telegraph, Gillard said her decision not to meet with the spiritual leader stems from his frequent visits to the area, not the trade relationship between Australia and China.
