Why do some people experience creative blocks?
In an interview with bigthink.com, Rainn Wilson of NBC's "The Office" attributes them to not knowing "who you are, what you're about, or what you believe in."
His advice for finding the answers to those questions? "You have to change your life up completely," he says. "Go on a trip, go spend a year being of service, be willing to take some major, drastic action to get you out of your comfort zone, and go inside, not outside."
By "go inside," Wilson is referring to meditation, which, he says, "helps greatly with creativity."
"We're so focused on the externals -- 'He did this,' 'He already did this,' 'Tons of people are already doing that,' 'I need to do something new' -- and you're just looking outwards all the time," Wilson tells bigthink.com.
"Taking the time in the morning to connect with your breath, that's where the purest impulse comes from."
