Anthony Weiner Heckled At Press Conference: Hecklers Shout Obscenities (VIDEO)

Anthony Weiner Heckled

First Posted: 06/16/11 03:54 PM ET Updated: 08/16/11 06:12 AM ET

In announcing that he will resign from Congress on Thursday, Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) was heckled as he addressed the media at a press conference in his New York district.

"I'm here again today to apologize for the mistakes I have made and the embarrassment I have caused," said the embattled lawmaker, who had become embroiled in an online sexual controversy. "Today I am announcing my resignation from Congress."

Cheers from some in attendance could be heard as Weiner announced he was stepping down from his post. My Fox NY relays what happened next as the New York Democrat continued making his remarks:

One man continued to heckle Weiner, making it hard to hear his speech. The man yelled "bye-bye pervert" and asked him about the size of his penis.

Huma Abedin, Weiner's wife and a close adviser to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, did not appear alongside her husband at the press conference.

You're just now discovering how weak democrats are? It took them two years to pass obama care with HUGE majorities. Thankfully, democrats are profoundly impotent. ==========
As the great William Butler Yeats wrote,

"The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity."

Just because you can yell louder and swing your beer belly around to knock people out of the way, it doesn't make you better or right...it just makes you a fat boor.

Honestly people, it's easy to tear him down over this sophmoric social networking, but this is peanuts compared to the Pelosi, Boehner, Cantor, Graham closet skeletons. Weiner was getting to vocal so they got him. Yeah he did some stupid stuff, but in the bigger landscape I don't think it's even measureable.

Now that Congressman Weiner has resigned, who will take on the issues he was shining a light on such as Clarence Thomas's unreported household income from his wife and powerful conservative groups.

Well, that's the New York press. They can, and do, get pretty ugly.....even in the face of a man admitting his guilt and walking away from his career.

I honestly wish the memebers of the press, incluing shock radio personnel, would have given Congressman WEiner the chancve to leave with what little dignity he had left.

Weiner gave up what dignity he had (if any) when he decided to resign by holding a press conference. He would have been smarter to just send a letter of resignation. Instead, he just showed that he was another clown under the big top that people laugh at.

New hysterical distraction wanted to fill immediate opening. Ideal candidate will be trumped-up, panicked, alarmist, jingoistic, essentially trivial and fundamentally speculative. In a pinch, pictures of some guy's wee-wee will do. Apply with references to CNN, Fox News and MSNBC.

What Weiner did was stupid, unprofessional and juvenile. The media coverage was painful to watch. I understand the comedians having a field day with it, but there were certainly more newsworthy events to cover. Interesting how Republicans, as soon as one of theirs is in the spotlight, come up with words like "lame-stream media" and stand up for their people. The Dems, however, seem to fold in face of any kind of criticism

I couldn't say Thankfully that democrats are profoundly impotent, although unfortunately I agree, but the alternative to the democrats, republlicans who are totally in the pockets of big corporations and oil is not exactly anything better. Yes, there are many dems in the same pockets, but they appear to want to help the middle class - which is diminshing. Corporate wealth has increased, which is fine, but not when everything else is decreasing. As unhappy as I am with the democrats, I am really afraid of what would happen with the Republicans in charge.

I am actually thinking about dropping Sirius XM because Howard Stern was behind this. I doubt I could get enough people together to form a boycott though.

What Weiner did lacked discretion but those yelling insults were tasteless and crude. I can only say they were in the right place to exhibit that. It made Wiener look better by comparison.
03:00 PM on 06/17/2011
Geez, those yelling insults were tasteless and crude while Weiner merely lacked discretion? You have a strange barometer for determining levels of bad behavior.

was he doing it in public at a news conference? You obviously are missing something. What Wiener did was private and legal between adults. More than I can say for the GOPpers caught recently.
