Lady Gaga's Meat Dress Preserved In Rock Hall Of Fame

CLEVELAND — Lady Gaga made history at last year's MTV Video Music Awards when she turned butcher's cuts into high fashion.

On Thursday, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland unveiled the singer's raw-meat dress to the public. The dress – made of layers of Argentinian beef – was kept in a meat locker, placed in a vat of chemicals and then dried out by taxidermists in California before being transported to the museum.

Hall of Fame spokeswoman Margaret Thresher says the dress took on a "dark, beef-jerky" look while dehydrating, so it was painted to look "fresh" afterward. The entire process took several months to complete.

The dress is being displayed as part of the "Women Who Rock: Vision, Passion, Power" exhibit, which runs until February 2012.

Jana Sterbak's Meat Dress for an Albino Anorectic was hung in the National Gallery of Canada in the 80's.

I think the Rock and Roll Hall of FAME. Should make an exception. Admit Lady GAGA now. I am a 47 year old DAD. I am not a big rock fan. But I do listen to a variety of music. What she has done in just a couple of years is amazing. Rockers are artistic, open minded and willing to consider change. They enjoy freedom, life and the great opportunities and pleasures associated with the experience. VOTE, her in Now. She is so unique, iconic and inspirational.
Like the commercial says "JUST DO IT". I think she is Great for music, entertainment and humanity.

Agreed - her voice is incredible - an piano playing/music creation abilities - then there are the meathead 'artists' who have everything written FOR them, but catch all the glory.
Art goes nowhere without the originator (writers and muscians, in this case - and Lady Gaga does it all).

You and I are able to see this. But, the powers that "B" in the music business seem to require her paying her dues in order to receive the accolades she justly deserves. Only if a tragedy occurs in this day and age would they recognize this, and sooner. And, I wish her a long and successful career. I will gladly say I was there all the while, and this goes true for others in music. Like Bill Murray in one of his movies "I will be able to say Listen to Tito Fuente" before he became Novelle. Music is man's common denominator. And every man has his own equation to what components derive his correct and rewarding answer.

Lady Ga Ga is not rock. She is somthing else. More like pop. Rock N Roll usually shows a band with instraments not one person singing with a bunch of dancers performing dance routines. She is a mix of Madonna and Cher, and they were pop not rock. So how the heck is she considered rock. Why would you waist meat that could have been given to the needy the way she did.

Everyone says this dress "made a statement". I just want to know what the statement is. If there wasn't a point, it didn't make a statement, it is just strange for the sake of strangeness. Without anything else to go from, it's just for getting more attention. *shrug* I guess screaming "ME ME, LOOK AT ME!!!" is all it takes to "make a statement" these days.
