A U.K. soldier killed by a Taliban bomb in Afghanistan will be posthumously giving 32 of his friends the vacation of a lifetime.

As the Sun is reporting, British Royal Marine David Hart took out a 250,000 pound (or about $400,000) insurance policy before he was deployed with instructions that $150,000 of that amount should go toward a Las Vegas holiday for his pals and their girlfriends.

According to friend Andy Hare, the Vegas vacation will serve as a particularly fitting tribute, as Hart -- described by fellow officers as "the perfect Marine" -- looked forward to his "lad's holidays" each year, the Daily Mail reports. "He loved going away with his mates -- it was always the best two weeks of the year," said Hare, 25. "In his letter David said he had had a great life and had no regrets about anything. He always said he would do something like this if something bad happened. He said, 'Go and have a good time and spend all this money'. All the lads said, 'What a guy'."

Hart's parents didn't seem to mind the stipulation, as Hart's friends have been very supportive of the family since his death. "Since his death, all of his friends have been round to see us," father Chris is quoted as saying. "It's nice they have been there to support us."

But the insurance money will also go toward funding ventures other than gambling. Hart, 23, also reportedly stipulated that $80,000 would go toward a charity group of injured Marines, while his family will also receive $160,000.

Family and friends have also planned to embark on a charitable U.K. bike ride to raise money in Hart's memory this fall. View their fundraising page here.

...And think, this heart, all evil shed away,
A pulse in the eternal mind, no less
Gives somewhere back the thoughts by England given;
Her sights and sounds; dreams happy as her day;
And laughter, learnt of friends; and gentleness,
In hearts at peace, under an English heaven.

I have a frog stuck in my throat.

Im in awe of the the kind of love for life, fun and friends a man would need to plan this trip for his friends in the event of his death. This was a man worth knowing.

I hope his friends have a blast on this vacation in tribute to David Hart.

It's as funny as f00lish. Getting kiIIed in a senseIess war to pay a vacation to his equally pudding head paIs. No wonder they are pudding heads.

He didn't jumped in front of a bullet to give his mates a nice holiday. He knew the risks of war and made arrangments to ensure if the worst happened he was remembered in way he felt fitting. We all make our arrangements if we're given time. Why would you call him nasty names for that?

You're sick. To oppose the senseless and interminable war in Afghanistan is separate from respecting and supporting the troops sent there without their consent.

Without their consent?
Maybe they ought to read the job description before signing up. I'm certain it states quite clearly what is expected of them. And that they're not signing up for regular choirboy practise but to be trained in the ancient arts of murder and being murdered.
And don't say it isn't murder. By any legal definition it is - they're going out there with the intention of killing people. Otherwise they'd be staying at home.

Of course I still feel sorry for them. Stupid politicians, their kids and the MIC should be the first to have to go to war. Problems would very quickly be solved by other means.

So Sad. The chances of a good outcome in Afghanistan are about as good as his friends' chances of winning a million dollars in Vegas.

He sounds like a great guy. I'm glad that he did this for his friends, family and charity. The only thing that makes me sad is that someone with such a good heart had to die so young. He seemed like he had a lot to offer the world had he lived longer - I'm not saying he would have been some big time charity person but simply that the world needs people like him, people who just bring happiness to those around him - that type of aura is contagious.

Can we just get out of Afghanistan now? Please? It's unbearable, it's just unbearable reading about the deaths of such young men in the news every day. Over what? Over what???
