Supreme Court Won't Hear ACORN Lawsuit Over Ban On Government Funding

Supreme Court Acorn Funding Ban

06/20/11 11:20 AM ET   AP

WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court won't hear an appeal from ACORN, the activist group driven to ruin by scandal and financial woes, over being banned from getting federal funds.

The high court on Monday refused to review a federal court's decision to uphold Congress's ban on federal funds for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

Congress cut off ACORN's federal funding last year in response to allegations the group engaged in voter registration fraud and embezzlement and violated the tax-exempt status of some of its affiliates by engaging in partisan political activities.

ACORN sued, but the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York City upheld the action. The high court refused to hear its appeal.

The case is ACORN v. United States, 10-1068.

Another good reason to remove as much money as possible from DC. They obviously have too much as evidenced by who they decide to give it to. Without the money these organizations would not be able to wreak the misery that they have on the American people and do it on our dime. I am sure Mr. Obama taught them well when he was their adviser. I am surprised they were caught at all.

Mike Davis declaimed: There is no doubt that Obama was elected with the use of fraudulent votes.

And yet... neither is there evidence.

ACORN and all it's leaders down to the totem pole should be sued, and put to prisons. All crooks.

There is no doubt that Obama was elected with the use of fraudulent votes. It is not hard to understand how it happened if you understand the way system works. I am sure ACORN played an important role in the fraudulent election of Obama. Obama received approximately 98% of the black vote; the low income and uneducated vote; the union vote and the so called liberal elite. That still leaves a big gap and there weren't enough stupid registered voters to close that gap. The Chicago mob stuffed the ballot boxes in Cook County Illinois for Kennedy so don't think it couldn't happen again. This time it was done to elect a community organizer.

Care to post a link to any reputable source to back up that allegation, or are you just using Wikiupmybutt?

Common theme here lately, regurgitated lies emanating from right wing media. These lies pop up like whackamoles because the liars or too lazy to look people, have no sense of justice or shame. They just have a need to propagate their agenda,no matter the truth.

"There is no doubt…" "It is not hard to understand…" "I am sure…"

These are bombastic phrases which mean nothing, and accomplish nothing.

I'm curious how you can be "sure" that ACORN was responsible for voter fraud to a degree that helped put Obama in office, when that was already investigated and it was found that a very few signature-gatherers hired by ACORN, paid per signature, falsified some signatures in order to make a few extra bucks. Nothing like what you're alleging.

A person who really understands how the voting system works, reaches that understanding by looking at the facts, and all studies show that voter fraud is miniscule in nearly every election, while election fraud, which is different, happens distressingly often, usually initiated by Republicans who are in office. Election fraud is a more sophisticated version of voter fraud, in which, among other things, laws are passed which are known to make it difficult or impossible for specific segments to vote, and in the vast majority of cases, these segments are more likely to vote Democratic.

You don't seem to have any real knowledge about Republican-initiated election fraud, voter disenfranchisement, etc. that has been documented in Florida, Ohio, and several other states.

I will acknowledge that there are a lot of stupid voters but there are not enough stupid voters to elect Obama. There has to have been fraud. It is called deductive reasoning: Something apparently you don't have.

Just ask Hillary supporters what happened in the caucus(s)..

Hilarious how libs think voter ID suppresses votes... I say we add purple finger ink to the mix, as well.

You obviously don't know the difference between voter fraud and voter registration fraud, which Acorn actually reported to the authorities.

Don't forget the SCOTUS,they're the Grand Masters of voter suppression.

We now know those 'scandals' were staged and then edited out of context. They were then played constantly across the right wing propaganda stations, like FOX News.

All manufactured to bring them down. Why? They worked to register voters that predominantly voted for Democrats. The GOP/TP cannot have registered voters acting that way. It is why they are doing everything they can to limit the number registered even today.

To this day they(the right) still comment on ACORN.Even though Acorn proved the lawsuit was a sham from the get go.The United States Supreme Court in this day and age is a complete sham and providing justice is a long gone memory of a previous generation.
03:07 PM on 06/20/2011
so we should just ignore the 100's of multiple registered agents to ONE SINGLE address? the sham has been exposed and closed...

"The group engaged in voter registration fraud and embezzlement and violated the tax-exempt status of some of its affiliates by engaging in partisan political activities". Congress took the proper measures against this scandalous organization.

Disappointing but expected. We really need something like ACORN in 2012, particularly with the photo ID requirements that GOP controlled legislatures have enacted to suppress the vote.

I have said that too...is there anybody out there helping these people to get their pictures and ID requirements. Isn't it interesting that Obama through ACORN off the train on gossip from a slick criminally bent O'Keefe snotty kid and the stellar Andrew Breitbart. We NEED an ACORN. No way would the Robert's CT help that case.

For whom? You? The GOP/TP?

What is wrong with a group working to register legal voters? What do you find illegal or offensive in that?
