Soccer Player Sends Opponent Flying With Brutal Tackle

Guatemala's Wilfred Velasquez earned himself a yellow card in the 54th minute of Saturday's Gold Cup match against Mexico when he sent Mexican captain Rafa Marquez flying after a brutal tackle.

Marquez was dribbling the ball near midfield when Velasquez charged after it. The replay shows him lunging forward with both of his feet in front of him, slamming into Marquez' legs and causing him to flip over and land awkwardly on the ground. Marquez began writhing in pain, but he was able to play on and Mexico went on to win 2-1 to reach the Gold Cup semifinals.

“It was a dangerous tackle,” Marquez said after the match. “Luckily nothing serious happened. I feel OK.”
