David Epstein Pleads Guilty To Misdemeanor Incest

Columbia professor David Epstein pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of attempted incest on May 10th, the Columbia Spectrum reported.

Epstein, who is still employed at the university, was originally charged with felony incest after it was discovered he was having what appeared to be a consensual relationship with his daughter, 24, in December.

I once knew a woman who was at least somewhat comparable to Epstein's daugther. Her father started abusing her as a pre-teen, but she went along with it as an apparently sane, healthy, 6' 2" woman (until she was about 22, which was when her dad died).

Very disturbing stuff, IMHO.

"Misdemeanor ATTEMPTED incest"? After a THREE YEAR relationship with his DAUGHTER? man-oh-man, it doesn't get any more weird than that!

But the one link says he is a contributor to this site. He has offered up articles about the likes of Sarah Palin among others. As long as he does that, he will continue to be a hero and role model for the left, especially those who hold up Ivy League academics as the true elites of this life!

It is a felony in New York, but he didn't actually plead guilty to "misdemeanor incest." He pleaded guilty to attempted incest, and because the degree of incest involved is a Class E felony, the attempted-ness drops it down to the next-most-serious level of crime, a Class A misdemeanor.

From a legal standpoint, I don't see anything wrong with this. I would never do it myself and it is very weird to me but who am I to judge them? They are both consenting adults and they should have the same rights as everyone else.

Did you even read my comment? I said that I would never do it and that the whole thing is weird to me. I do not have kids but I don't want to have a sexual relationship with any possible future children of mine either. Yes those people are related, yes it is very strange and weird and everyone can look at them funny if they want to. But they are both adults, why shouldn't they have the same rights as everyone else?

If you had a daughter, you'd recognize that incestuous relationships can never be consensual and equal. The father-daughter relationship can never just be put aside, no matter how horny the father is.

She's 24. They had a 3 year long sexual relationship.

24-3=21

Which means, even in New York, she wasn't a minor. Nothing has been said or implied by anyone involved in the actual case about anything occurring when she was a minor.
