Jon Stewart Slams Fox News For Editing Interview With Chris Wallace (VIDEO)

Jon Stewart Fox News

Jon Stewart opened Monday night's episode of "The Daily Show" by addressing his weekend appearance on "Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace."

After a playful swipe at The Huffington Post's "YOU'RE INSANE" headline, Stewart went on to suggest that viewers watch the full, unedited interview online, which is the only place where one can see what Stewart termed, "the takeaway moment of the entire interview." After asking Wallace if he truly believes that Fox News is "exactly the ideological equivalent of NBC News," Wallace responded, "I think we're the counterweight. I think they have a liberal agenda and we tell the other side of the story."

Stewart went on to underline, and mock, the gravity of Wallace's point:

The other side of the story. "We don't tell both sides of the story, we tell one side...the other side, the one we perceive is never told. Because as you know, news only comes in two sides. And if the conservative side isn't being told what's being told must be liberal. Fox News isn't fair and balanced. It's balancing the system, man. Don't you get it? The system's unfair and unbalanced. To balance the system, Fox has to be the purest form of right wing resin. Because of how heavy left wing America is. Hollywood, comedians, every single news organization, the Internet, facts, history, science, it's all just left wing bullshit, man...." Is Fox unbalanced? Yeah. Seriously, their ears are nearly touching the floor. But it's only because the system is unbalanced.

During the segment, Stewart referred to Wallace as "one of the more respected individuals at Fox," while also pointing out that the anchor's statement "basically gives away the game."

Jon Stewart’s Ratings Are Now Higher Than Fox News.

"Stewart averaged 2.3 million viewers, while the Fox News prime time and day time line up averaged 1.85 million viewers.   This is why Fox News both h@_tes and fears Jon Stewart. Not only is he more popular than they are, but he devotes much of his program to exposing the biased reporting of FNC. Even worse, Stewart is teaching his  Read More...

It wasn't a playful swipe, HuffPo. When Jon was talking about how the media has a tendency towards conflict and drama... that's exactly what you do.
03:07 AM on 06/24/2011
In all fairness the Left Wing is NOT nearly as dominant a force in the media machine as is the RIght Wing faction. CNN, ABC,CBS, and NBC are all owned by powerful corporate conglomerates like Disney, VIacom and Westinghouse. These conglomerates have much more invested with right wing policies and contribute far more heavily to the Republican party.
08:36 AM on 06/24/2011
... they do contribute... But really the creme-dela-creme of Republican party views, raw and uncut is from FOX

the takeaway moment. and jon is right. absolutely.

The left wing's full of it too.

People need to stop looking through this left wing/right wing window of policy.

What does the CONSTITUTION and our FOUNDING FATHERS think about our current issues? They've happened before. This time, their might not be a happy ending.

Hey Fox News , don't mess with Jon Stewart. He's to smart and he does his homework. He just made the bunch of you look really really bad. Keep it up Jon. Call out the liars.

Jon Stewart actually slammed HuffPo because the way they edited the interview left put a lot of important things he said and proved his point that the media goes for sensationalism and laziness

Become a fan Unfan .2 hours ago (3:52 PM) aww..its too bad so many liberals want something for nothing. if you don't like your current situation, go make it better. In America you can do that. This laziness and entitlement mentality that has gripped this nation is what is completely sad. I, for one, will continue to believe that this is the greatest country on earth and everyone makes it what it is...get off your couch.

Not that it's any of your business but I have had exactly 2 jobs in my life. The first I was at for 17 years until I was downsized out of it and one month later I got my second job which I've now also been at for 17 years. I’m no deadbeat as you cons like to paint anyone who sticks up for the disadvantaged in America so I'm not asking for something for nothing nor am I sitting on my couch. I'm just sick of hearing you selfish, self-centered greedy cons defend republicans grinding the middle class under their jack boots. And the fact that you CANNOT feel ANY compassion for the millions of souls in America who are in such dire straights because of 30 years of republican policies speaks loud and clear about the kind of person you are.

What an uninformed person you are, to think that jobs are there to be had at a wage that can support a family based solely on the fact YOU have a job. I work with a church group that helps people pay their utilities. Tell me how a man who worked for 20 years teaching who had to quit his job to care for his dying wife and special needs 25 year old daughter is suppose to make it? They cannot afford someone to come in on a teacher's salary. Their insurance does not cover it. People like you sicken me with your inane stupidity thinking that everyone should be judged by YOUR uneducated yardstick. Tell me, since you know all, what do we do with the mentally ill in this country? Who is suppose to take care of them and keep them off the streets? many left to die when the weather is so bad and they truly have no where to go because they have no family? and if they do they cannot afford the health care to help them? Go ahead and sleep in your own little reality tonight but be aware that in my way of thinking? People who ignore the real needs of the millions out there right now? are a new class of mentally ill.

I invite you to edit your reply after giving the OP another careful read. No need for unnecessary 'Blue on Blue' violence...

If that's true, it's only because more cons are now posting here. They bring the average down for all the rest of us that can think clearly without being told what to say and think by corporate masters.

So the people of Canada are far to stupid to be allowed free speech. Their leftist masters will control the media and do their thinking for them. I wonder if they have book burning's like Hitler in Berlin?

I watch FOX News because it is banned in Canada. If the liberals in Canada are so afraid of Fox that they have to engage in censorship and denial of free speech to suppress it's broadcasts, it must be fair and balanced.

That has to be the most bizarre unrelated response on Huffington. Canada's leftist have applied virtual communist type control over the media to suppress any debate or challenge to the governments message. This is exactly what Hitler and Stalin did to the people of Germany and the USSR to control the masses. How can a country honor free speech if it censors any news source? The allegations against FOX misleading the public was easily found to be false and Stewart apologized for his lie. Will the government of Canada do the same? I doubt it, liberals want power more than truth.

Actually, Canada will not allow Fox on because they don't allow News stations to lie. Gee, I cant imagine why Fox isn't allowed in. Oh....wait...

If Fox's own estimating techniques were used, the lie content time quotient would be about three and a half years longer than they have been a network.
