UPDATE -- More has emerged on the robbery and shooting. The suspect had asked Keivork Boghsian, the store's jeweler, to show him a diamond engagement ring. Here's what happened next, from Century City Patch:

Boghsian showed him a platinum ring with a .75 carat diamond. The man asked to see it through a loupe, a jeweler’s magnifying glass. He told Boghsian he wanted to see it in the light and then took off running... A security guard ran after the man and chased him to Santa Monica Boulevard and then down an alley, said Allie Signaigo, who works at Fast- Fix. Once in the alley the man fired at least one shot in the air.

PREVIOUSLY -- A man robbing a jewelry store at the Westfield Century City Mall fired his gun in the air and at s security guard before escaping in a getaway car. No one was hurt, reports the LA Times.

Two men are sought in the robbery of at least two diamonds from the Fast Fix Jewelry and Watch Repair shop, reports Daily News Wire Service. Lt. Gena Brooks of the West Los Angeles Station said that the suspects are described as black, one of them with cornrows. They escaped in a beige or tan Chrysler 300 on Santa Monica Boulevard.
