Jon Hamm: 'Mad Men' Contract Extension Signed For Three Seasons

LOS ANGELES -- Don Draper is getting job security and a raise.

Jon Hamm, who plays 1960s advertising executive Draper on AMC's "Mad Men," has signed a new contract with series studio Lionsgate Television Group. Hamm's publicist, Slate PR, said Tuesday that the deal keeps him with the show for three more years.

The actor will receive a substantial raise for the upcoming fifth season. By the contract's final year, he'll earn more than $250,000 an episode, Variety.com reported, citing unidentified sources.

Hamm had been signed through season six of "Mad Men." The new deal keeps him on board through the seventh season.

Series creator Matthew Weiner signed a contract in March for a sixth season and a possible seventh. Weiner's protracted negotiations delayed the show's return from this year to early 2012.

LOL, took me a minute to understand what you meant by "chocolate". I think men are men black, white or brown. I have never understood why so many white women prefer black men. I wonder if it's the "taboo" that makes it alluring or if it's just a new fad which will eventually fade?

But why wasn't Rubicon renewed. Supposedly money negotiations. Hard to see where it would've gone next, especially since the outcome unsurprisingly echoed a number of movies. Still, the actors, style, and writing were mesmerizing.

Would never have seen MM if it hadn't followed Rubicon. Hamm finally began to show some powerful acting ability late in the season. Now if only the rest could become a little less cartoonish as well.

I am still mad about the cancellation of Rubicon. They said the ratings were not high enough. boo

John is great in Madmen although I'm disappointed that we have to wait until 2012 to watch again.

Love this show but, there is no Mad Men without Don Draper (or Roger, for that matter). Hopefully, they will get back on the air while the iron is still hot on this show. By the time the next season starts, viewers will have forgotten what the last story line was.

Glad the wonderful Don Hamm is on board for three more seasons. I just wish we rabid "Mad Man" fans knew for certain that the show itself will really go for three more. Sounds like production for a 7th season is not a certainty.

I wish we could get 10 years out of "Mad Men." Love it.

It is a great show but it has an expiry date. How can Draper be Draper with flared collars and bell bottoms?

Mad Men, Friday Night Lights and Good wife are some good quality shows. Glad to hear that MM will be on for 3 more season!!

Darn, I cut off my cable because it was too much time wasting crap on. However, MM is one show I really liked. I guess I'll wait until it comes out on DVD or Netflix.

Having just finished watching the 4th season for the first time, I'm really excited that the show is continuing on. I felt a lot of the 3rd season dragged, and spent WAY too much time on Betty and not enough on the Ad agency. The 4th season has some of my favorite episodes of any TV show. A lot of the characters went back to being flawed but likeable.

This is the very best show on TV.
I've just been cleaning my mother's 1964 house, readying it for sale, and I feel like I'm cleaning one of their sets.
