Winklevoss Twins Won't Take Facebook Case To Supreme Court

Winklevoss Twins Facebook Lawsuit

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 06/22/11 07:12 PM ET Updated: 08/22/11 06:12 AM ET

It appears the lengthy legal dispute between Facebook and twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss may be finally coming to an end.

Though the Winklevoss twins had initially indicated they would appeal a recent ruling to the Supreme Court, documents filed Wednesday indicated that the plaintiffs had decided not to move forward with the appeal.

The Winklevoss' seven-year legal battle with Facebook centered first around their claim that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg stole their idea for the social networking site and, later, that the company misled them about the value of its stock in a 2008 settlement that awarded the Winklevoss brothers around $65 million in cash and stock.

A federal appeals court ruled against the twins earlier this year and they had planned to challenge its decision to uphold the 2008 settlement.

A filing submitted by the Winklevoss twins and Divya Narendra noted, "appellants do not intend to seek further appellate review."

A Facebook spokesperson said of the latest developments in the lawsuit, "We've considered this case closed for a long time, and we're pleased to see the other party now agrees."

Gosh, too bad they'll have to limp along on a mere $65,000,000.

"I think if your clients want to sit on my shoulders and call themselves tall, they have the right to give it a try - but there's no requirement that I enjoy sitting here listening to people lie. You have part of my attention - you have the minimum amount. The rest of my attention is back at the offices of Facebook, where my colleagues and I are doing things that no one in this room, including and especially your clients, are intellectually or creatively capable of doing."

man, sorkin is a genius writer.

Hey guys,
I think you are going to be allright.

You are Harvard-educated, multi-millionaires who look like male models.
..perhaps you should count your blessings.

Take the money, go on an incredible vacation, get some hot cars (and hotter women), forget about Mark Zuckerberg and PAR-TAY !

..it's what I would do !

Facebook is not a good option for me. I like my privacy to remain private.

I think in the end, it just may have dawned on them that this was as good as it was going to get.

They probably looked and say they they probably weren't going to get any more money, and further action was going to do nothing but eat up part of their fortune in legal fees.

That's too bad. There is no doubt that Zuckerberg stole their idea and expanded on it to make huge sums of money. I know the twins got a lot of money, but they should have gotten more. A pox on your house, Zuckerberg.

Actually I initially got the same impression but I was wrong.

"The identical twin brothers are challenging a San Francisco federal appeals court ruling that upheld a $65 million cash-and-stock settlement they reached with Facebook in 2008."

It appears they had 'buyers remorse', or 'settled the lawsuit and now I think we acted to quickly and didn't get enough', remorse.

Not sure how much of that 65 million was stock. And, depending on the price at the time the stock was transferred it could be worth more.

Here's an idea for the 2 "Havad" brats.... take your 65 million and put your over-priced education to use..... It doesn't take an Ivy League education to figure that one out. DUH!!!
