This may be the most delicious example of stop-motion animation we have ever seen. Chef Jordan Kahn, famous for his too-pretty-to-eat platings at Red Medicine and elsewhere, is the artist behind Assiette: Gardens Of Delight. The short film showcases the plating of a croissant from Beverly Hills' Bouchon bakery to create a "fantastical dessert" inspired by Salvador Dali, according to Nowness.
It took "24 hours of continuous work" to film the short piece, reports the LA Weekly. The film, made in collaboration with multimedia artists Natasha Subramaniam and Alisa Lapidus', adds to their series on the intersection between fine and culinary art.
At just 17 years old, Jordan Kahn began working as a pastry chef with Chef Thomas Keller at French Laundry in Northern California. He since worked with Chef Grant Achatz in Chicago at Alinea and Chef Michael Mina in his San Francisco restaurant. Kahn opened his first restaurant, Red Medicine, last year in Los Angeles. The restaurant is a "non-traditional" take on Vietnamese comfort food.
