Woman Pleads Guilty To Scamming Half A Million Dollars In Veteran Donations

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A Florida woman pleaded guilty Wednesday in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court to four charges in connection with a national veterans charity scam whose founder mysteriously disappeared last year.

Blanca Contreras, 39 of Tampa, pleaded guilty to engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, aggravated theft, money laundering and tampering with records. The felony charges carry a combined maximum of 25 years in prison and $50,000 in fines. She will be sentenced August 3.
