Jerry Reinsdorf's Granddaughter Faces Marijuana Charge

Melissa Reinsdorf, the 19-year-old granddaughter of Jerry Reinsdorf, Chicago Bulls and White Sox CEO, was charged early Thursday with marijuana possession, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday.

Police told the Sun-Times Reinsdorf was stopped after allegedly blowing a stop sign about 1:30 a.m. near Milwaukee and Riverwalk Drive in Buffalo Grove, a northwestern Chicago suburb. When the officer thought he saw "small pieces of cannabis on her lap," he asked if she had drugs in the car. Reinsdorf subsequently handed over a plastic bag filled with a "green leafy substance." She also reportedly handed over a glass pipe when asked if she had any drug paraphernalia on her.

Journal & Topics Newspaper reported that Reinsdorf paid a $120 bond and is due to appear in a Mundelein courtroom on July 14 on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and disregarding a stop sign.

“This is the first I have heard of it and without knowing all the facts, I cannot really comment,” Jerry Reinsdorf told a Journal reporter.
