Joel Santos Lies Down In Front Of Girlfriend's Car, Gets Run Over

An angry boyfriend became a speed bump when he tried to stop his girlfriend from driving away.

Joel Santos didn't want to call it a night when his girlfriend, Gloribeth Santiago, and her cousin, Christina Santiago, dropped him off at his apartment complex in Orange County, Fla., on June 19.

The couple began arguing and Santos stood in front of the women's vehicle in an attempt to block them, Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes told AOL Weird News.

Then Santos allegedly lay down on the asphalt.

"The girlfriend was in the passenger's seat. Her cousin was in the driver's seat," said Montes. "They go forward, they feel a bump.

"According to the driver's and the passenger's statements, he was there -- then all of the sudden he wasn't. Neither one of them saw him lay down."

With Santos trapped between the front wheels and the back wheels, the women called 911.

Police reports indicate that rescue workers from the fire department had to use a jack to extract Santos, who has been hospitalized with burns inflicted by the car's undercarriage.

Investigators believe Ortiz was intoxicated when the incident occurred. Charges against the driver are still pending awaiting blood tests, though Montes says law enforcement officials "don't suspect that she was impaired."

Man, I thought I had been dumped every conceivable way. But I've never had a girl park her car on me. I hope my girlfriend doesn't read this.

If this story was about a man running over his girlfriend it would be front page news across the country. The media loves stories about women being victims. They don't care what happens to men.

Okay, so the people involved are Joel Santos, his girlfriend Gloribeth Santiago and her cousin Christina Santiago... who is the Ortiz mentioned at the end of the article? Am I missing something here?

One of the cops? Or perhaps the article's author?
