Top Model Tats: Creative Ink From Our Favorite Runway Strutters (PHOTOS, POLL)

A model's job is to sell clothing, thus the body should serve as a blank canvas, right? Wrong. Dozens of top models have tattoos in various locations on their bodies. Some opt for a "less is more" ideology, while for others, more is, well, more.

Most models have ink that can easily be concealed for work, while others' are more out there. Freja Beha's slew of personal, symbolic tattoos are among our favorites, but if you're looking for something a little less permanent, check out the models who walked in the Chanel and Rodarte Spring 2010 shows.

Take a look and tell us what you thINK. (Lolz!)

What's the big deal? I've become used to seeing tattoos on so many people that I no longer notice them so much except when they are exceptional. They are an expression of the personality of an individual as much as the clothes she wears. I don't always like the style, but I respect the person for wanting to make their own style statement. And I had to laugh at the hanger - that model DOES have a sense of humor - albeit somewhat dry. She says she realizes that some people regard her as just a place to hang their clothes. I do hope she holds herself in better regard.

Tatto's are not that ancient the history is from the South Pacific, the Malori's were probabl the first, they call it Moko, and it is a very painful experience with plant ink a hollow read type delivry and a tapper....The younger people seem to be great followers, and ink themslves, regretfully it is not that pretty when you grow older and the skin changes lastisity....But it is optional, and I am quite sure they will regreat it eventually.....Short term thinking, oh let me be part of the fad.

Well, isn't that special. That ought to look real nice by the time she turns 50, all faded, runny and stretched.

In ancient times, and in some social circles, the tattoo is a piece of a person's life permanently painted on their body. I can understand family names, symbols and signs from accomplishments or marks of rites of passage. Most of these marks were only "vanity" if that is what you call it. They are not telling or informative. They add nothing, and even distract from these ladies beauty, no matter how much it is a product of other beauty products.

Take the make-up off most of these women and they wouldn't get a second look. It's all false advertising, I tells ya.

If you're going to get a tattoo, get a good one, or make it meaningful, at least. Tiny, hidden little pictures are really pointless.
I have nothing against tattoos on anyone, but it does drive me crazy when people get Chinese characters inked permanently onto their skin. "Luck" - yes, but it doesn't specify good or bad, "prosperity" - yes, it does say that, "love" - no. Just no. I'm still learning Mandarin Chinese, so I looked up the third character. The first few definitions I got were "essence, extract, vitality, energy, semen, sperm". Hope that's what this lady was aiming for.

Nobody even commented on "Zombie Boy" Rick Genest. Seems something is wrong with this guy to want to look so grotesque ALL THE TIME. Honestly, why would you want people to look on you with horror on a daily basis? I know there is punk rock, but even for punkers, I think if they saw him at a show, they'd think him pretty extreme. Could you imagine sleeping with him? What would you do if you woke up next to this guy in the morning?

When I look at him I think of all the years of unemployment he has in his future.
