Luke Chrisco, Boulder's Porta-Potty Peeper, Will Represent Himself In Court (UPDATE)

VAIL, Colo. - Police think a 30-year-old Colorado man suspected of hiding in the tank of a portable toilet also made peep holes in the restrooms of several Boulder businesses to spy on women.

Vail police arrested Luke Chrisco, a Grand Junction native, on Thursday while investigating an unrelated complaint, saying he resembled the suspect accused of hiding in a toilet at a yoga festival last week. Authorities say the suspect fled the toilet covered in human waste.

Boulder police spokeswoman Kim Kobel says investigators are checking statements Chrisco made, saying he spied on women using bathrooms at area businesses. Authorities say some peep holes have been found.

A Boulder district judge ruled this morning that Luke Chrisco is permitted to represent himself, according to a report by the Daily Camera.

During his advisement hearing, Chrisco told the judge that he was "willing to assume any risk" in the pursuit of justice. When Judge Thomas Mulvahill asked him whether he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Chrisco said, "No, but I am partly under the influence of the unjust and tyrannical rule of the Boulder County Jail."

Chrisco's arraignment has been rescheduled for Dec. 15. EARLIER:

Chrisco faces misdemeanor charges of unlawful sexual contact and criminal invasion of privacy in the toilet case.

In a phone interview with The Daily Camera at the time of his arrest, Chrisco explained:

"I ended up at this yoga fest and I saw all these hot girls and I was like, 'I can't take this anymore, so many hot girls,'" Chrisco said. "I saw the Porta-Potties, and I said, 'I bet I could fit in this. I'm not one of those rapist guys ... It was inappropriate, and it was an unfortunate thing I went down there. It's the opposite of what I want to do with my life, which is make women feel like goddesses. In retrospect, it was a very irresponsible thing to do."

The Smoking Gun describes Chrisco as a New Age transient who aspires to operate a "spiritual porn site" to enable the worship of women. Among many of Chrisco's websites is holysexgirls.com, which states, "Girls Bodies are as the holy temple of the conciousnes adoration of infinity and the only refuge from the infinite desert of the sands of time and desolution."

Chrisco's family describes Luke as "eccentric" and "misunderstood."

Days after Chrisco's arrest, he faced four new charges of burglary for his admission that he also watched women through peepholes that he made in Boulder-area business bathrooms. If convicted, Chrisco could receive up to 24 years in prison -- 6 years for each count. This is in addition to the original charges of unlawful sexual contact and criminal invasion of privacy for spying on women using a portable toilet at the Hanuman Yoga Festival in Boulder, Colorado on June 17.

9News reports that police believe Chrisco watched women at the following locations: Department of Motor Vehicles on 2850 Iris Ave., The Naropa Institute, Target at 2800 Pearl St., Boulder Cafe at 1247 Pearl St.

There is suspicion that he spied on women from adjoining restroom stalls at these other Boulder businesses: Absinthe at 1109 Pearl St., The Rio at 1101 Walnut St., Macy's at 1900 28th St., Cheesecake Factory at 1401 Pearl St., Mamacita's at 1149 13th St. and the International Youth Hostel at 1107 12th St.

9News reports that University of Colorado Boulder confirmed that peepholes were found in three locations in two different buildings on campus: Eckley Science Building's first floor restrooms and in Muenzinger Building's fourth floor bathroom.

Tim McGraw, CU Boulder Police spokesperson, said to 9News that the police estimate that the number of victims could be in the hundreds. However, if any peeping took place during the Spring or Fall semesters, when the student population is significantly larger, the number of victims could be in the thousands.
