Michele Bachmann Gratified By New Iowa Poll, Says She Got 'Sense' From God To Run (VIDEO)

WATCH: Michele Bachmann Answers Whether God Told Her To Run

WASHINGTON -- Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann says she's pleased by the results of a new poll showing her as one of the top choices among likely Iowa caucus-goers.

The Minnesota congresswoman is set to announce her candidacy for the Republican nomination for president on Monday. She'll be in her birthplace of Waterloo, Iowa, for the kickoff event.

Bachmann said during an
on CBS' "Face the Nation" that she is gratified by the Iowa Poll that was released Saturday and showed she was in a statistical tie with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for first place among likely Iowa caucus-goers. Romney had 23 percent support while Bachmann had 22 percent.

The Iowa caucuses, set for February, are the first votes in the nomination race for the 2012 presidential election.

Here's an excerpt of the exchange that went down between Bachmann and CBS host Bob Schieffer on the program:

"Did God tell you He wanted you to run for the Minnesota State Senate, or something like that?" Schieffer asked.

"I prayed about that, as well," Bachmann said. "And that's really what that means. It means that I have a sense of assurance about the direction I think that God is speaking into my heart that I should go."

Bachmann also reacted to the legalization of same-sex marriage in New York, which was achieved by the state late on Friday night.

"The people of New York came to a different conclusion," said the conservative congresswoman, expressing her opposition to marriage equality. When asked if she viewed being gay as a choice she said, "I firmly believe that people need to make their own decisions about that. But I am running for the presidency of the United States, I am not running to be anyone's judge."
