Princess Diana & Kate Cover Newsweek (PHOTO)

Thanks to Photoshop -- and, of course, the unyielding comparisons between the two women -- Princess Diana and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, cover the most recent issue of Newsweek.

Inside, Tina Brown imagines what Diana would be like at age 50 -- great looking, perhaps slightly Botoxed, J.Crew-clad and friends with Prince Charles. And what about her relationship with her new daughter-in-law? Quoth Brown:

The rising public adoration of Kate would have afforded Diana some tricky moments. Pleased, yes. But, like Frances Shand Kydd--who, days before Diana's wedding, suddenly burst out, "I have good long legs, like my daughter"--Diana would have had to adjust to a broadening of the limelight. Her edge over Kate, of course, was her own epic of princessly suffering, which would always make Diana's story more interesting. ("Happily ever after" will never have the same allure to the press as "It all went horribly wrong.") Diana, rejoicing in her flawless Spencer pedigree, would have positioned herself as a firm defender of the Middletons against the palace snobs and ostentatiously made Carole Middleton, Kate's dynamic mother, her new BFF.

Take a look at the cover below and tell us what you think. To read the rest, head over to Newsweek.com.

Kind of cool!

Unsure.

Somehow I think it is morbid and tasteless. Let the young people start fresh without the unhappy history being dredged up.

I think Diana would very happy with her Sons choice ,Kate has handled herself with such grace,as if she had grown up a Royal.I hope the 2 will have a long and happy life together.I will keep them in my prayers.

first of all I really think diana would look much better than the photo suggests, kate looks beautiful of course, but what's the point?

Why do the female Brits wear such ridiculous hats? The designers must have a contest
on who can produce the most outrageous creations, from tents to antennas and everything in between.

It wasn't only the Brits that wore hats. In the 40's and 50's I remember them being very important here also. I remember the church teas in the gardens where the woman wore their hats. They served finger sandwichs, tea's and punch in Long Island!

Don't Black people in the States still wear them to church on Sundays nowadays?

I just don't understand why Mendodnem thinks it's ridiculous.

It's part of their formal occasion tradition to wear these "ridiculous hats" and fascinators.

Just because you're not used to it doesn't mean they are ridiculous.

Very, very poor taste. Who among us would want anyone taking liberties to photoshop us to their whim....after we're deceased? We need to have at least the minimal standard to not sensationalize, post-mortum.

That's just tacky. Let Kate be her own person and not live her life in Di's shadow

not her style of dress, she would never wear a bag on her shoulder, and her hair would look like 2011 not 1997, and looking closely, she appears around 60. bad picture poor taste.

That cover is so horrible, it just elevated the National Enquirer to scholarly journal.
12:33 AM on 06/29/2011
Princess Diana was 5'10" tall...and Kate Middleton is the same height. I wonder why Diana appears taller in the photo?? Also.... most likely Diana would not have worn that dress. Not
her style or color.

And...as Diana fans know...she loved her sun bathing. It shows in her face at age 50.

But...Diana might have found the humor in seeing her commuter generated self on the cover of Newsweek...14 years after her passing.

We still love all-things DIANA.
