Jessica Freedman didn't think her brother would be able to see her graduate from college at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA earlier this month.
To her knowledge, Eric Freedman, a 20-year-old Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, was still in Afghanistan. The two hadn't seen each other in seven months.
As Jessica, 22, took the stage to receive her diploma, Phil Bailey, dean of Cal Poly’s College of Science and Mathematics, interrupted the ceremony with a special message.
