Michele Bachmann Quotes & Unforgettable Moments (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

First Posted: 06/27/11 09:35 AM ET   Updated: 08/27/11 06:12 AM ET

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) is running for president in the next election cycle.

The conservative firebrand's star has been on the rise since she was elected to serve Minnesota's sixth congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006. Bachmann is the founder of the chamber's Tea Party Caucus, she delivered her own unofficial response to President Barack Obama's State of the Union address earlier this year and she's shown that she's not afraid to ruffle feathers within her own party in pushing her political agenda.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Bachmann said her "motivation in life" is to "repeal Obamacare" -- the health care reform legislation signed into law by the president.

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Bachmann said of her presidential ambitions, "I've had this calling and tugging on my heart that this is the right thing to do." She added, "People want something new and different and that's one thing I've established with my voting record."

As Bachmann kicks off her presidential campaign, here's a look back at some of the Tea Party favorite's most unforgettable moments:

'I Haven't Had A Gaffe'

Bachmann raised some eyebrows in November 2011 when she claimed she'd never "had a gaffe."

"As people are looking at the candidate that is the most conservative and the most consistent candidate, I've been that candidate. I haven't had a gaffe or something that I've done that has caused me to fall in the polls," Bachmann told Greta van Susteren in a Fox News interview.

The claim was interesting considering her knack for making misstatements.

Why stop there? Any fool can see that the sun revolves around the earth, as do the stars and the heavens. Look up into the sky. You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows; you don't need any scientist to tell you that the sun revolves around the earth. So says Rocky the Flying Squirrel.

Is there a Redubican out there who even understands conservatism in its true sense? Do they know Burke or even William Buckley? It makes one wonder about the possible chance of the human race evolving beyond today's nattering nonsense. They cannot discuss economics (forget even Friedman and his abortion of human values), philosophy (Leo Strauss was a maniacal bigot of the highest degree - Plato anyone) or Religion (sermon of the mount, Matthew - Jesus was a progressive!!). It makes one sick to the stomach that these fools are even allowed on television!

Besides claiming that there are "hundreds and hundreds" of Nobel-prize winning scientists who discount evolution, Bachmann also believes planes can't fly without the use of witchcraft? Better give her the phone # of Palin's African anti-witchcraft shaman, quick.

Bachmann's appearance on "Face the Nation" Sunday made me uneasy. Why won't she answer any questions? What is she trying to hide?

Yeah, she's afraid of one of those "GOTCHA" QUESTIONS! Sarah Palin used to get! Too bad Sarah never asked either of her daughters any of those "GOTCHA!" questions. like, "WERE YOU HAVING SEX WITH THAT BOY?" She might have been able to put them on birthcontrol before she ended up the GRANDMOTHER OF 2 ILLIGITIMATE CHILDREN! Whose gonna vote for her to run THE WHITE HOUSE & THIS NATION WHEN SHE CAN'T EVEN RUN HER OWN HOUSE!

Not surprisingly, the media have now focused on Bachmann's comments and mistakes. Like most average Americans, I have long given up on the media treating Republicans and Democrats equally. Or fairly. For example, will there be a HuffPost (long a liberal Democratic outlet) article on Joe ("F-Bomb") Biden's long string of incorrect statements? Uh, no. What about the numerous factually incorrect statements that Obama has made and continues to make about the economy or anything? Any media focus on those? Of course not. Credibility in the media? Won't see it anytime soon, regrettably....

Wow. Can you imagine having a President who doesn't know there are only 50 states. Scary. That's what we have in the White House now. Anyone would be an improvement.

Really? I mean, really? Have you never, ever said something that was a slip of the tongue that you had to correct yourself on? Like saying "chocolate" instead of "vanilla". I do it all the time. See, I was trying to do 2 things at one time and not concentrating. Hell, I even call the kitty my daughters' names. Both of them, at the same time! Frequently. Glad to know that you are so perfect.
02:38 PM on 06/29/2011
But of course you don't allow the same latitude for Sarah or Michelle!

Yeah, well you're not trying to run for President, either, so you can sit with your finger poised over the Doom's Day Button, so if she can't take this kind of heat she doesn't deserve 'the seat!"

Poor Michele Bachman. She does not know American History as she has demonstrated on many occasions. She does not know about current news, She does not even know when the King died. Happy Birthday, Elvin. Indeed!
However, she does know how to get money from the Federal Government she proclaims to hate and says constantly that the government interferes in Amereicans' lives too much. "Wait! Wait! Let me get almost a half million dollar loan from Fannie Mae for my house on a golf course before I close that program down. Let me get a member of my family a hugh farm subsidy not to work the farm before I close that program down. Let us not forget my husband's wonderful work at Bachman & Associates.getting gay people to go straight. He may not be able to make gay people go straight, But he really knows how to fill out the Medicare/medicade papers to the tune ofr $100,000.00++" says Michele.
Ha ha ha What a joke! He is not even a real doctor. Has no degree. He had better hurry before Sweet Michele closes that program down. God save the USA.

Ms. Bachman by her presence refutes the argument for "intelligent design." Unless she was designed by Larry, Moe, and Curly with help from the village idiot.

To what and to whom does your cryptic comment refer? You might try human language to articulate a position that can be readily understood.

What I don't understand is how a party that supported GWB's lies to Congress & the American PEOPLE, YOU KNOW "WE" THE REAL PEOPLE, NOT THE "WE THE WEALTHY TOP 3% WHO THEREFORE HAVE THE RIGHT TO RULE EVERYONE ELSE PEOPLE", to get us into a war in IRAQ for no real reason other than he thought he heard God telling him too, who has caused untold DEATH to HOW MANY OF OUR BEST & BRIGHTEST can say they are PRO-LIFE!? And to top that off, they're trying to cut WIC so they can take sustinance out of the mouths of the very babies they profess to care about before they are EVEN BORN! YEAH, THAT SOUNDS LIKE PRO-LIFE TO ME! NOT! WHAT IT SAYS IS THAT THEY THINK THEY ARE THE ONES WHO GET TO CHOOSE WHO, HOW, & WHY PEOPLE GET TO DIE! After all, they are the RICH & historically speaking the RICH have always made those decisions for the poor! THIS COUNTRY IS BECOMING A FEUDAL SYSTEM! DON'T VOTE ANY MORE WEALTHY PEOPLE INTO THE WHITE HOUSE!

If Ms. Bachmann was a man, at best one would say many of her views as extreme. So her gender really is not an issue for me. To be extreme in your thoughts in itself is not so bad as long as no one is hurt. However, anyone who talks about one party taking our "freedoms" just kinda gives me the willies

She has simply hit on a formula for marketing herself.
If you are looking to sell a product, any product, to the American people, you want to look for a niche where there is a void, a place you can occupy and a perceived need you can fill.

There have not been a huge number of female, mega-conservative, religiously zealous, ultra-fake-patriotic, nut-jobs in the market. Only one other prominent contender comes to mind, although some noted attempts were made in Nevada and Delaware during the last cycle.

So she simply tries to out mega-con, out religion, out patriot and out-crazy her competition. She uses the tried and true tactic of screaming fire at every pilot light and claiming Marxism at every fact she faces.

It gets her attention and that is how the game is played.

I wanted to leave also.Maybe the left should have taken off so we could all watch how quickly the right destroyed America. Maybe we can't leave for there is something to fight for.
All of the gop candidates scare me, especially bachman and her brand of religion.
The religion of the right:
Sunday blue laws- this will get really wierd
Those who worship on the 7th day Sabbath- the sabbath of the bible will no longer be able to worship-they will be breaking the law.
Abortion police- every woman including girls starting menstration will have to report monthly to prove they are not taking birth control pills- birth control pills are a form of abortion.
This is just for starters.
