Shark Jumps Over Surfer: Crazy Clip Captures Fish Out Of Water (VIDEO)

The craziest thing about this video might be that the cameraman didn't even know it happened.

Jacob Langston, a photographer for The Orlando Sentinel, accidentally took this video last week while he was taping surfers at New Smyrna Beach in Florida. While he didn't see the shark jump himself, his camera did.

According to Yahoo Sports, the fish is likely a four-foot spinner shark, a species that is common in the area.

"They are pretty common at the inlet," Langston told Yahoo. "People get photos of them all the time jumping out of the water. The surfers knew immediately what it was."

But the experience of having a shark jump over you is nonetheless rare. Catching it on camera is even more miraculous.

Sharks generally breach the water when they are on the hunt. They chase their prey from below with a lot energy that allows them to jump out of the water.

It looks like the shark was ignoring the surfers. So it was probably fish in the area that it was hunting.

The reporter acts like it's no big deal, the shark is only about 4 feet long. It is not the length of the body that counts, but the length of the teeth, and how many teeth there are!

And excuse me, but if I'm long since tired of hearing that humans aren't on their menu. How about tell THEM that, not us. They mistake humans for seals or other sea creatures hundreds of times per year every year.

But yeah, hey, I swim in the ocean too, their turf. So far so good.

He jumped behind him ffs! And they may not be known to eat but Spinners bite. Ask the gentleman who was killed in Jupiter, FL. waters last Spring while kite surfing. They concluded it was most likely Spinners. Their turf...

that shark just wanted to play with other sharks (i.e. the shark thought the surf board shadows where other sharks) so the shark was just trying to join the school.
