The BEST DRESSED Colleges

First Posted: 06/28/11 09:29 AM ET   Updated: 08/27/11 06:12 AM ET

College is not necessarily a time for brilliant fashion. Many student use the irregulars hours and time spent in the library as excuses to wear pajamas or large sweatpants to class. There are schools, however, where this is unacceptable. And these are schools that we are honoring today.

Check out our slide show of the best-dressed colleges and then tell us, which school in your opinion is the most chic? Weigh in, in the comments section.

"When it comes to fashion," writes Tina Liu, editor of NYChic.com, NYU's fashion publication, "We mean business...We're not most students. NYU students are as colorful, creative, and spirited as the magnificent city we're so privileged to live in. I love walking down Lafayette or West 4th and seeing my fabulously stylish peers traipse down the street as if it were a catwalk." And really, the Olsen twins both went here! So there you have it.

I don't know who the idiot made the list uhm, go to 27th Street, and 7th Avenue in New York and you'll see a big school by the name of Fashion Institute of Technology. The students would put the supermodels in Fashion Week and the students on your list to shame.

I'm blown away by the diversity of race and style showcased in the picture of the USC sorority *sarcasm*

I dressed like my crowd at school too. It was fun, it was "fashion" . . . big deal.

I never thought for a minute that it was more important than how I treated people or what moral code I embraced, and I doubt that kids today feel any differently.

Relax, it's just clothes. They have to apply for jobs soon enough.

Oh course Howard was on this list. Black folks can dress

Colleges can dress?

Hahaha. Its not a serious article people. The people making negative comments are obviously poorly dressed. Step your fashion game up, and stop hating on the beautiful, haha.

Way to use the worst picture you could find for USC. It does no justice.

As many of my fellow Bison will attest, this is no surprise. Howard has always been a "fashion show school". But I'm also proud that it's not all about the superficial. Academics still are a top priority today as it was when I was a student many years ago. Nevertheless, Bison represent! HHHUUUUU!!!

I'm not seeing many schools that are well-regarded for their ACADEMICS on that list...

Wesleyan University is extremely well-regarded and very difficult to get into.

And several others are prime colleges for designers and artists.

I think Sarah Lawrence should be on the list. A lot of the outfits are weird, but many others are really stylish and I'm surprised every day at how much effort some students (and teachers!) put into their clothing.

That's the result of effort? Just kidding, a good friend is Sarah Lawrence '85, and I've been teasing her for many years about "The Lawrence Look".

I guess they've never heard of the Sorbonne. Anyone that's traveled to Europe particularly France and Italy, will see fashions that won't be seen in the U.S. for another 3 years.
12:32 PM on 06/30/2011
Actually I'm in France right now... at the Sorbonne, and I'm not impressed. Maybe in the pre-Internet days your statement was true. Not so much when you can watch the fashion shoes streaming

Or...we could go to college to, IDK, learn stuff.

Nah. Let's talk about clothes some more!
