'Toy Story 4': Tom Hanks Says Pixar Working On Film

Toy Story 4

Following critical acclaim, an Oscar for Best Animated Feature and a global box office take of $1,063,171,911, "Toy Story 3" was beyond successful. Combine that gold with the film having ended with Woody and the gang getting a new, youthful owner, and a fourth film would seem a no brainer.

And according to Tom Hanks, it's already underway.

When asked by a BBC interviewer whether his new granddaughter would have a fourth "Toy Story" to see, the voice of Woody said, "I think there will be, yeah. I think they're working on it now."

The work on "Toy Story" actually hasn't stopped with the release of the third film; Pixar released a short, "Hawaiian Vacation," ahead of their newest film, "Cars 2," which won the box office this past weekend. They'll release another later this year, rumored to be planned ahead of "The Muppets."

Disney is also introducing another new storyline for the film series' characters, a space adventure featuring Buzz Lightyear and space-suit clad Woody and Rex blasting off to fight the evil Zurg, to be featured in new toys and a digital book.

Pixar also released the teaser trailer for their next film, the Scottish heroine-driven "Brave," on Monday.

Of course, why wouldn't we ruin a series that ended on the perfect note? Everyone loves an unwanted sequel!

D@mn you Hollywood and your incessant greed.

Please, Pixar, PLEASE don't do it. Toy Story 3 ended the series perfectly. Don't ruin that with a sequel!

Now that Pixar is part of Disney, for all its creative autonomy, Pixar must feed the theme-park merchandising beast. So the sequels will just keep coming.

Both salubrious and lugubrious concurrently.

Since the children are long grown up I assume the toys are going to be recycled, ground up into plastic flakes, and shipped to China to make into air conditioner fronts.

This is getting ridiculous. What's next, "Toy Story vs. Predator"?

I'm too old to be as excited about this as I am. Silly me, thinking they would wrap it up after 3... But the very idea of another movie with these characters - Totoro included! - is just great. I guess corporate greed can produce some great things.

Have to admit that the TS movies are the only Pixar films I don't own. Very good, but don't need to see them again. Liked TS3 mainly because of the ending, tho overall I didn't enjoy it as much as How to Train Your Dragon or even Tangled. But enough with the sequels already! How about something new? I got a kick out of Pixar always winning me over with films I didn't think I'd like such as The Incredibles or Ratatouille (my favorite).

So, they are going to continue to beat a dead horse and run the franchise into a million sequels and prequels like the "Predator" and "Aliens" movies?

Toy Story 4: It's all about merchandising now.

Soon to be followed by

Toy Story 5: Because you bought the first four.

I love Toy Story, but Toy Story 3 was such a fantastic, emotional and perfect ending that I really think it should end there. Work on new projects like Brave.

I agree completely. Taken as a trilogy, the Toy Story movies feel like they've completed their arc by having the toys go to a new owner.

No no no no no no! Number three was the perfect ending.
