Tree Hotel In Sweden Features Bird Nest Room (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 06/27/11 02:40 PM ET   Updated: 08/27/11 06:12 AM ET

From Inhabitat:

We've had a thing for this Swedish Tree Hotel ever since it opened, but we're even more blown away by each of its awesome individual rooms - especially this one, called the Bird Nest.

Covered in twigs and perched high up in a tree, this twiggy haven may as well have been built for one of our fine feathered friends. Designed by Inrednin Gsgruppen, the Bird Nest is one of five incredibly fun treehouse rooms at the hotel and an additional 20 are being built.

Yikes! What a disappointment. For something so supposedly naturalistic and avant-garde on the outside it sure is unimpressively rectilinear and AVERAGE on the interior. Where's the communing with nature?

Looks like an ill-concieved, uninspired series of cramped little spaces in a shell that on the outside looks cool.

YUCK.

It looks incredibly claustrophobic! If I was going to rent a room in a tree, at least I'd like to be able to feel the breeze blow by and have a sense of freedom. I'd just as soon spend the night in a cereal box as sleep in that thing.

If the world comes down and civilization goes to the dogs, I'll definitely consider that.

I'm surrounded by the SW fires...which makes me wonder, is the hotel fire proof?

That could be the coolest hotel room I've ever seen.

Then, you've never seen the hotel rooms of Beckham Creek Cave Lodge in Parthenon, Arkansas... www.beckhamcreekcavelodge.com. I, too, would find the tree house rooms claustrophobic. For some reason, the cave rooms are not.
