Floyd Mayweather Jr. Sued For Allegedly Ordering Attack In Las Vegas

Floyd Mayweather Jr Sued

By DAVE SKRETTA   06/28/11 05:04 PM ET   AP

NEW YORK -- Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he never accused rival fighter Manny Pacquiao of taking steroids and that he's still open to fighting the Filipino icon.

Mayweather made the comments during a stop in New York on Tuesday to promote his Sept. 17 fight against welterweight champion Victor Ortiz. The fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas will be the first for Mayweather in a year and a half.

Most of the news he's made between fights has been outside the ring.

Mayweather is being sued in federal court for defamation after allegedly accusing Pacquiao of using performance-enhancing drugs. He also faces felony charges stemming from a domestic argument, and misdemeanor harassment and battery charges, among other things, in separate cases.

They are both great fighters, Maybe the best of this generation. They have fought everyone else except each other. Nobody wants to watch Mayweather fight Ortiz. The world wants the Mayweather, PacMan, fight. Neither fighter has any other place to go except to this fight.

Hey Mayweather, What about that fight with the PacMan? Duran did much the same thing to Leonard, before their first fight and it worked. Leonards corner decided thet he should fight Duran toe to toe, no dancing or fancy foot work, it was a disaster for Leonard. Leonard would go on to win the next two fights to include the famous No Mas, fight but he would fight Duran in a larger ring and never slug it out with him again.

Yes, he did say that in the NY press con. Coming to LA later, he continued with his statement on fighting Pacquaio. But whilst he said he did not accuse MP of being a drug cheat, he tried to contradict himself in that same press con by saying Mosley, in a talk after the May 2011 fight, to strongly urge (read:demand) Floyd to let Pacquaio take the test, because Mosley regretted not having demanded one. What caused it? "Man, I've never had a punch at me like that in my entire career. So when an MP sparring partner came with a gossip, Mosley, Mayweather QUICKLY retweeted it via fighthype.com When the source seemed like a figment of imagination
the trio aso quickly delted the tweet and never spoke of it again. Hypocrites.

These two are playing Jekyl and Hyde. But, on that note from Mosley, Floyd is much more courageous in saying about interest in the fight. We all know it will never go thru because it jusifies his DEMAND for drug tests beyond what the boxing commissions require.

Floyd has had his bratty ways with punching, assaulting and defaming ppl -result of his current court cases. Now, we wil not let him get his way for his alleged cleaning up of the boxing or boxers when he cannot even clean his own house!

Thanks, Floyd, for crusading to make boxing a cleaner sport. You are a fine role model.

I always thought Mayweather was overrated. Pacquiao is the real deal. One of the best in history.

I was getting frustrated but I won't because I can't transmit my life lessons to some of you people. I will say what this kid learned at 21 I learned at 8. Some of us learn that you can't go around saying whatever you want to people and that in reality you really shouldn't anyway because you don't want others saying whatever they want to you. The kid lost an opportunity to grow as human being because he rather not take responsibility for his actions and call the police because his mouth got him into trouble in the first place. Some of you feel entitled to say whatever they want to people and call the police if the person becomes physical about it. I dont' understand that logic. I think its childish, weak, and irresponsbile if you ask me. If you can't be nice or respecful to somebody then don't say anything. If you can't say something nice then don't say anything was a lesson I learned at 4. This 21 yr old is pathetic and he got what he deserved. Open your mouth in the wrong way to some people and you'll get a fist in it.

*some people feel entitled to say whatever they want

--I will say that entitlement syndrome is a very American attitude to possess... as expressed in our foreign policy for instance...you have resources? gimme gimme gimme

Like Mayweather deserve to have his face bashed in by Vitali klitschko or his brother for saying whites can't box. Or by any asian on Earth for saying rac ist things about asians to deflect his cowardice about Pac?

As it happened in Vegas in a casino, I'd imagine there are security videos that recorded the whole incident-- on which this case, if it comes to trial, will turn. I'll wait to judge once the video is available, though, it's out of no special love for Mayweather, but rather, an abiding affection for truth.

The story said the video could not identify anyone.

Read it, yet missed it. Thanks for the elucidation.

Don't know if this puts Mayweather in legal jeopardy, but it looks now like the casino ought to be worried, in that their security did not stop the incident, and their security cameras were so placed or misplaced as to be unable to identify the assailants. It is now a matter of public record that their security is such that, a man can be beaten in a public area and his assailants need fear neither being stopped nor identified.

Sometimes you open your mouth and get beat down, I'll bet this guy will think about it the next time he decides to sell wolf tickets to a professional boxer.
02:09 PM on 06/28/2011
That maybe florida law, but that isn't the law where I am from...

he could say anything he wants to mayweather without getting beatdown.....as the courts will prove, if this is substantiated.

Thank you...I don't know what's so hard to understand about this concept. You're not entitled to go around disrespecting people and if you think you are eventually someone will show you otherwise regardless of the consequences.

Like Mayweather deserve to have his face bashed in by Vitali klitschko or his brother for saying whites can't box. Or by any asian on Earth for saying rac ist things about asians to deflect his cowardice about Pac?

Imagine Mayweather popping his r@ cist mouth off in front of one of the Klit brother's and having his ignorant little brain beat in. In would be a beautiful sight, right?

Somehow i doubt you agree with that.

floyd doesn't need BODYguards he needs PSYCHEguards... to project his fragile, childlike senses.

lil baby floyd probably called in to have his psycheguards moderate these comments so no one would hurt his widdle feeweens.

Manny is in "Counterfeit's" head big time ... people can't even mention the champ around Mayweather without him snapping.

I doubt Mayweather ever has the guts to get in the ring with Pacquiao.

"counterfeit"... nice. hadn't seen that before. fanned and faved. floyd probably sheepishly moves to the other side of the street and cringes if he sees ANY filipino headed towards him... "please don't tease me about manny! pleeeeeease don't tease me about manny!!!"

floyd's gonna have to fight manny just for the money after manny's done with him in court. and to think all it would take is an apology from floyd and his father and uncle to avoid losing millions upon millions of dollars.
