Stephen Hill, BET President, Apologizes For Chris Brown BET Awards Flub (VIDEO)

BET President Stephen Hill has taken responsibility for the uncomfortable mixup in which Drake accepted an award meant for Chris Brown.

Guest presenter Tiffany Green first announced that the winner of the Viewers' Choice award was Chris Brown. Then she corrected herself and said the winner was Rihanna. Another presenter then said the winner was Drake.

At the end of the show, host Kevin Hart explained that the winner was in fact Brown.

After the uncomfortable flub, Green tweeted "Bawling backstage. They totally fu%&ed me up."

Hill took responsibility for the mistake on Twitter, saying, "That BET Awards Viewer's Choice mix-up was due to human error. And I was the human that made that error. I apologize to ALL affected."

The situation was made especially awkward because Brown was convicted in 2009 of assaulting Rihanna, and ordered not to contact his former girlfriend for five years.

I haven't watched BET since the Viacom purchased and they started ranking Nsync with the #1 video on 106 and Park. But I seen a photo of Free at the awards and she looked amazing. BET is for ghetto folks so I'll continue to avoid the channel and awards. I live in LA and no one in the city cared about attending any of the parties or events, just the hoodrats and male groupies.

@kikib215: "People will not live Chris live that down"? Live it down? He didn't by accident flash an old lady, or trip and fall in public. He beat the living hell out of his girl friend.
People make mistakes. Beating the hell out of your girl is not a mistake. It's assault.

Celebrities get enough of a free ride in life. If you like his music, fine. But don't act like what he did was like a parking ticket. You act like this happened in his childhood, it was 2009.

If someone beat you to a blood pulp in 2009, and you heard that person was up for a people's choice award, would you be worried about people letting him "live it down"?

Ethics and moral fiber, read up on it.

Why was it "akward" because of the 2009 incident? People will not let Chris live that down. That had nothing to do with the flub by BET and it did not make it akward. Get over it...he has moved on and deserved the award--he has had an awesome year musically.

First, it's AWKWARD not aKward, which is basically defined as making a person or group of people feel uncomfortable. This mistake by BET clearly did that and the incident in question was a key reason for that. To pretend otherwise is being silly and a bit delusional.

I thought the show was okay this year. I was happy that Jamie Foxx was not the host.
