It's been a busy day at HuffPost Chicago and we've been so inundated with animal news in particular that we decided to pull it all together for our friendly friends of furry friends readers:

First, a family of ducks narrowly escaped losing one of their duckling members Tuesday night. According to ABC-7, a hotel employee noticed a mother duck and her ducklings on the fifth floor of a parking garage in the Gold Coast and urged them toward the nearby Lake Shore Park. Unfortunately, however, the ducks chose instead to head toward Lake Shore Drive, nearly getting hit. One duckling reportedly got trapped in a sewer cap. Chicago police, firefighters, Streets and Sanitation and even a tow truck were involved with the ducks' successful rescue.

In Glencoe, a 17-pound snapping turtle is now in recovery after being run over by a car earlier this month, per a Chicago Sun-Times report. According to an Animal Control spokesperson, this is the time of year when turtles leave the nearby Skokie Lagoons to lay their eggs in the fields behind some Glencoe residents' homes. The turtle's shell was reconstructed in surgery and she was moved to a wildlife rehabilitation center in Lake Forest.

In a sadder development, 81 cats recovered from a Cicero woman's home were euthanized after they all tested positive for feline leukemia, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Firefighters doing a wellbeing check at the woman's home on June 20 discovered the cats. The woman, who is in her 70s, will reportedly not be cited and is currently staying elsewhere while her home is cleaned.

Finally, Chicago Wildlife News reports that the now infamous Boystown deer, a family whose move into the popular Lakeview neighborhood we were closely monitoring, have successfully been moved to a new, grassy home. The family sounds to be doing well following the relocation, which Animal Care and Control called "Operation Doe A Deer."
