Herman Edwards Gives Inspirational Speech To NFL Rookies (VIDEO)

NFL Rookies Receive Some Words Of Wisdom

The NFL season is flirting with uncertainty, but that doesn't mean you can't get a pep-talk from an experienced head coach.

Veteran NFL player, coach and ESPN analyst Herman Edwards spoke to the 155 rookies at the NFLPA's rookie symposium this morning, sharing some "free" knowledge on hard work, talent and being a professional in the league.

It probably comes as no surprise that Edwards expects these young-ins to be ready to play, whenever the time comes.

"When this thing comes to fruition -- and it will -- they're going to kick the ball off, you're going to go to training camp. If you're not ready to go physically? That's on you," said Edwards. "Don't blame the lockout. Don't blame the commissioner. Don't blame De Smith. When you go to training camp, nobody wants to know about 'Well, we missed 20 practices because we didn't get OTAs' -- we don't care. Nobody cares."
