WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama said on Wednesday his administration's actions on Libya do not violate the War Powers Act and that it has consulted repeatedly with Congress on the operation.

"Throughout this process, we consulted with Congress. We've had 10 hearings on it. We've sent reams of information about what the operations are,'' he told a news conference.

Obama also said the "noose is tightening'' around Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.

If Obama says it, it must be true. Now we have an international court with an arrest warrant for Gadhaffi insuring that he has no place to run and can‘t leave Libyia. All odds are on his men turning on him and that’s a poor bet, regardless of the few who have defected. Defected yes, but no one took a shot at Gadhaffi.

Consultation with our representatives is fine, but not after the fact, not  Read More...

The noose needs to be around obama's neck and his nato lackies for the senseless deaths of civilians..
To attack another country is an act war and supply those forces is an act of war.
An act of war must be given by congress and obama has once again torn up the consttituion he swore to uphold.

Not sure why Obama wastes our money trying to ruin Gaddafi when all he really needed to do was announce the good Col. is disgusted by gays and is opposed to gays getting married.
Let them handle it.

Send in "Gay Troop" for Gaddafi's capture

And let's not dismiss the possibility that, come January 2013, Gaddafi may still be in power, and that our president, who doesn't mind resorting to lynch-mob rhetoric, may no longer be in power.

Well stated. In 2008, Bill O'Reilly of Fox News was loosely using the word "lynching party" when talking about Michelle Obama. I spoke against that and I am totally against Obama's reference to "noose" when referring to Muammar Gaddafi. There are a large number of persons in the US who would like to see Obama with a "noose" around his neck. He is wrong.

Seems with our economy, the white house is concerned with removing every leader that has ever backed or supported the USA. This is the second country he has gone into to support rebels and demands the leader step down and throw its government to the wind. In part the rebels are part of and supported by the same group that took down the towers.....So what is the real motive here? Are we really doing the dirty work of the Brotherhood?

Telling Congress what you have done after you've already done it is not the same as consulting let alone geting approval

The president does not need to get approval in advance from Congress. The War Powers Resolution requires the President to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action.

So he is correct and you are wring. He did not violate the War Powers Resolution.

Obama and his clueless, non-military cronies have been spewing this rubbish for MONTHS now. That 'noose' must be as big as the earth's circumferance! Look for this ' noose' to finally close - if ever - around the year 2096. Whoever is left on the planet can celebrate - I suppose....sigh.

Not a War and we are winning.Drones have killed Children looking to kill Gadhafi but it is not a War ,we have bombed and killed only god knows how many people so the we do not know who they are rebels could take the citys from them. That none war of Obama is it right or wrong I think it is wrong ,why we are aiding a group from a Lybian city that went wild with joy when the twin towers burned ,we are aiding a group that got the same weapons our enmys are using in the middle east againist us with no answer to were they got them these things are not cheap, the rebels are trying to accuse Gadhafi of anything they can think of when the rebels were the ones who started attacking citys and then was driven back with no mention of how many they killed attacking those citys to begin with they were not welcomed as heros but killed to take the citys.

Thanks for your statement on Gaddafi, Mr. President. I needed a good laugh this morning to get my day started. But wait, didn't you say FOUR MONTHS AGO the following: "This operation will be over by the week, if not days".? Duh. Silly Me. I believed you. $50 says Gaddafi will be around for a long time. Of course if you nuke the entire country month by month you might get lucky and get him....
