Facebook Announcement 2011: News Event Scheduled For Next Week (SCREENSHOT, POLL)

The big announcement Mark Zuckerberg mentioned on Wednesday is official.

The invitation (which you can see below) says the event will begin at 10 a.m. PDT (1 p.m. EDT) at Facebook's Palo Alto headquarters. Exactly what the announcement will entail remains a mystery.

However, there are nonetheless speculations. Judging by the invite, it seems this could be a chat (perhaps video) related announcement, though Reuters earlier reported that the CEO hinted at the possibility of a launch in the mobile or tablet field. Rumors have apparently been floating around that Facebook could finally be preparing an iPad app.

This announcement comes just after the launch of Google Plus, which has been often compared to Facebook in terms of design and functionality since it launched. Facebook, nor its CEO, have made any comment as to whether or not the new announcement is in reaction to Google's launch, or if the newest social networking service has put pressure on the 500 million user strong Facebook.

well if Microsoft have already purchased Skype, then the immidiade though would be video, however microsoft also own a % of Facebook ? facebook has blatantly had problem's of late introducing rolling out new update's so how would they be able to handle the traffic of video calling ? I choose other

It will probably be that they're changing yet more of their rules to allow advertisers (i.e. solicitors) to have access to yet even more details about our personal information.

They should stop calling it Facebook and start calling it "WeSellYourInfoToAnyAndAllAdvertisers.com".
