Casey Anthony Trial Verdict: Not Guilty Sparks Celebrity Reactions

First Posted: 07/05/11 04:36 PM ET   Updated: 09/04/11 06:12 AM ET

From politics to health to child rearing, celebrities are quick to make sure their opinions are heard by the world at large. And with the advent of Twitter, it's never been easier for a movie star, musician or reality personality to get their message out to the world as soon as news breaks.

With Casey Anthony being found not guilty of first degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter of a child (though she was convicted of misleading law enforcement) in the case of daughter Caylee Anthony's death, celebrities were quick to tweet out their thoughts -- including Kim Kardashian, whose father Robert helped lead OJ Simpson's successful defense in his murder trial. In this case, she was with the prosecution.

Here's an expanding list of some of those reactions:

The verdict was "not guilt". It wasn't "innocent". If you watched the trial with an open mind as I did, the prosecution never proved anything beyond reasonable doubt. With the exception of the fact that she is a liar. But, she has a history of always having been a liar. Not just about this case. Her whole life was a lie. That kind of behavior is so typical of a person that had been sexually abused as a child, something that I believe is blatantly obvious from the entire fantasy world she had always created. No solid proof. I think that if you watched this trial and came away with any other opinion, you had her convicted before the trial started. God Bless the American judicial system.

Anyone disgusted with baby killer verdict that never saw the movie "Star Chamber" with Michael Douglas (1983-84) it is a must see. Would be nice if Judge Perry was a member.

I have worked on a number of high profile criminal and civil trials in my career, including the Robert Blake murder defense, so I know what it looks like on the inside. While Nancy Grace and the HLN team seemed to imply this was a done deal, as I watched the verdict being published, I can’t say that I was shocked. During deliberations, the jury has only their notes and admitted evidence to work with. Although we were given an opportunity to see most of the evidence presented to the jury, they were not viewing it along with a picture of little Caylee in one corner, and “Tot-Mom” in another. Visual presentation can be very persuasive. http://trial-technology.blogspot.com/2011/07/casey-anthony-verdict-was-it-wrong.html

Those who continue to persecute and malign Ms. casey are the LD with arms extending, fingers pointing, mouths wide opening and evil proclivities protruding.

I only heard about this case two weeks ago, and a lady at my nail salon told me about it. The minute she told me the details, I knew she would be found not guilty. There was too much reasonable doubt with the story and the charges.

But again there's the, leaving "getting the police involved" 30 days after her daughter was seen, going to rent an apartment and seizing the moment of opportunity to come up with more lies by stealing a name M.S Gonzalez (if she told you the whole story you would know who I'm talking about) calling her the nanny and lying about where she worked not to mention the countless other lies there can't be reasonable doubt in a bunch of lies for one being that nothing she ever said checked out

OMG, I get the "not guilty" of murder (first degree etc) because of "reasonable doubt" but WTH...... "not guilty of child neglect or abuse"?????? .... She supposedly left her child with a babysitter and occasionaly? spoke with her ????? then partied to her hearts content and in the end the child is found dead ...after 31 freakin days there is a call to the police.....CHILD MISSING.... How could the jury not agree this is CHILD ABUSE OR ENDANGERMENT ???? I can't believe she got a 'GUILTY' charged ONLY FOR lying to the police..... what a f*in joke...

the fact that kim or khloe kardashian think they have a right to voice an opinion about someone "getting away with murder" just shows how brainless and self absorbed these girls are. perhaps they forget that the only reason they became a household name was because their dad CAME OUT OF RETIREMENT to defend OJ Simpson, the original i-got-away-with-murderer.

I remember when the OJ verdict was read-Kardashian looked stunned. I think he helped OJ by getting rid of evidence and then assumed he'd go to prison. He really looked like he was in shock, and not from happiness.

it's bafffling that she wasn't convicted of homicide. all evidence in a trial is circumstantial and the jury is supposed to draw reasonable inferences from evidence. however, this impressionable group was looking for illegitimate forensic science and fell for casey anthony's histrionics after she assumed the victim role in court. she was obviously seen as a sympathetic figure, someone with a newfound faith and eagerness to live a virtuous life. she's honed her cunning her entire life and now jurors want her to seek help and get on with her life. unbelievable

Exactly how do you presume to know what the jury was looking for and what they "fell" for?
Is it not possible they felt the prosecution's case lacked merit, so they were forced to render that verdict, even if some or all of them thought she did it?

I know it's hard, but people really need to start coming to grips with the idea that two things can be true without one being false. Just because the jury didn't buy the prosecution's story does not mean they bought Casey's. The burden of proof is on the prosecution. It failed. End of story.

Why didn't anyone ask Robert Blake or Phil Spector their thoughts?

Celebs have opinions on everything under the sun, except when it comes to the misdeeds of their fellow celebs, then their silence is deafening.

Norm McDonald had the best line to sum up this ridiculous verdict, "Breaking news, Murder is legal in Florida!"
