Maybe people would rather watch something better than whats being shown on tv and the movies of today .. yes a few good movies do come out , but most of them are passable .

Why so many adaptations? Dickens was one of the greatest storytellers of all time, that's all! The wonder is that there aren't more. Perhaps the intense art direction needed is the answer.
