Kate Middleton Packs SJP's McQueen, Athletic Gear For Stay In Prince Edward Island (PHOTOS, POLL)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 07/05/2011 7:42 am   Updated: 09/04/2011 5:12 am

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continued their tour of Canada in Prince Edward Island on Monday, which meant a series of new ensembles for the former-Kate Middleton. She started off the morning in an Alexander McQueen, cable-knit dress in cream -- apparently first worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in navy five years ago.

The couple then headed out to at Dalvay by the Sea and Catherine layered up in a trenchcoat, navy J Brand “811” Mid-Rise Skinny Pants, a red scarf and the Sebago Ladies Taupe Bala Deck Shoe. And for their much-talked-about Dragon Boat race, the Duchess picked a Nike windbreaker.

Take a look and tell us what you think. And check out what Catherine had to say about having kids or her trio of Ottawa outfits here.

Quick Poll

Who wore McQueen better?

Catherine!

SJP!

Both looked great.

I really love Kate's style. I quite enjoyed the following article where her go to designer talks about Kate and her style: http://blogs.forbes.com/bluecarreon/2011/07/05/meet-kate-middletons-go-to-designer/

If SJP had more "tan" or hosiery on her legs and different shows the dress would have appeared the same from the neck down. SJP shoes were too much for that style of dress and her legs too pale. There is a reason hosiery were invented a while back. For people who don't tan!

Oh please - pensioners are facing tax cuts in the UK maybe instead of giving the money to the Duke and the Queen one could give it to those pensioners instead afterall as you say its not that much apparently.

They do not boost the UK economy which is suffering by the way through tourism - people as France, Italy and other places have shown would come to visit those castles anyway with or without a monarchy if anything they inhibit tourism since if those castles were opened year round there would be more income.

Oh and rich people with a pet "charitable" cause that says a lot but doesn't really do that much and Harry's charity was accused of mismanagement of funds.

Kate and William live a "modest" life year - who could afford a million dollar vacation in the Seychelles and then call it "modest".

People have the government ... politicians and royalty alike ... that the country wants. If the majority of people don't like the monarchy, why hasn't it been abolished? They got rid of it in Russia in 1916. Of course, I wouldn't want to go the way they did ... royal family or lowly citizen.

The country has never been allowed to VOTE on whether they want a monarchy. Also the UK government sounds like a "transition" government most dictators have - when they are voted out or there is a threat to their power they come up with a transition government that combines them with the people who are actually elected. Sounds very similar to the UK system no? Charles just summoned a couple of members to his home and all of them refuse to say what he discussed because they claim it would interfere with his "role". The queen manages to keep her chunk of the budget while seniors face tax hikes.

SJP cute and sexy ... The Dutchess of Cambridge beautiful and elegant.

It's kind of an apple and grapefruit kind of question.
11:19 PM on 07/05/2011
There is no question who wore it better: the Duchess of Cambridge.

Clothes always look better on tall and thin.

SJP is far from attractive, but it's her confidence that makes her beautiful. Kate Middleton is better looking (way too thin though) BUT she looks so incredibly in love! I don't think either woman wore it better--they wore the dresses appropriately to match their personalities and the occasions.

Totally agreed!

She/they do look like they are in love and very happy. That makes her radiant in her pictures. She "glows." Tall and thin though is not realistic for everyone. How tall is she anyway? I thought whe was like 5'6" or so. And why is she looking thinner in every picture. I long for the days when Twiggy's are no longer the fashion plate. Is it only because designers have to drape the material over the body as opposed to styling it to fit curves to make it look good?

Don't dig the SJP look... not as clean and preppy!

If that's cable knit and she looks that thin, she needs to beef up. I'm thrilled they look genuinely happy. I wish they would take the sycophant PM Harper home with them.

Hardly a sycophant. He's at the top.

Dunno if it's just me, but the cable knit dress looks like something from the costume department for a production of The Sound of Music.

The royal princess would be wise to keep a little meat on those bones. She has a lot of hard work coming up.

This is the style section for crying out loud. Perhaps you have not heard of style; it often goes with class, two qualities which you have continually demonstrated by your remarks you are sadly lacking.
11:22 PM on 07/05/2011
Interesting how so many people pick apart thin people who are in great shape.

There's often a message in the need to do that.

What pray tell is the reasoning for the juxaposition of that camel-nosed, no-talent, wart-faced woman next to Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge?

You mean what is that woman who worked for a living and thus could afford clothes and a lifestyle to match the clothes from her own money - doing next to the woman who is using the money of poor taxpayers in the UK (some of whom pensioners facing huge cuts to their pensions and facing choices between food and heating) to fund her lifestyle.
11:25 PM on 07/05/2011
Catherrine, the Duchess of Cambridge, gets NO money from the UK taxpayers.

SJP of course since those clothes were bought or given because of work that she'd actually done - it definitely would not be Kate since she is a welfare "queen".
11:36 PM on 07/05/2011
Only two members of the royal family are paid by the UK taxpayers: the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. The total amounts to less than one dollar (in sterling equivalent) per taxpayer per year.

The boost to the British economy, through their royal events and tourism, far outstrips any money they receive.

Also the Royal Family helps millions of people through their own charities and through the charities to which they lend their names. Prince Charles's Prince's Trust assists approximately 40,000 young people in need every year. Prince William's Tusk Trust is working wonders in Africa, helping the poor create sustainable livelihoods, while safeguarding threatened wildlife. Prince Harry's Sentebale's mission is to transform the lives of vulnerable children in Lesotho. I could go on with a lot more, but there wouldn't be room.

The Queen, at 85 years old, works every day, with her constitutional and royal duties. We would be hard pressed to find many in North America who still work at that age at all.

And, of course, Kate's husband is a search and rescue helicopter pilot, stationed in Wales, where they both live very modestly.
