Lady Gaga Talks About Her Relationship To Gay Fan Base In 'The Advocate'

Chances are, when you're a pop star who wears eye-catching clothing and interesting hair styles, people will take notice. And if you pair that with power anthems about gender bending and religion, people will love you.

For Lady Gaga, reinventing the wheel is paramount. And I think everyone can agree, she has done it, but that's not to say she's completely different from the singing sensations of yesteryear. From Madonna to Liza to Barbara, our pointy-cheeked, meat-wrapped Gaga feels very familiar--at least to one fan base.

In The Advocate's August cover story, Lady Gaga explores her relationship to the homosexual community. Linking our modern songstress to gay-supported singers is interesting, sure, but how Gaga is different is that she herself identifies as a part of that community. The article goes to note Gaga's attraction to other women and when asked which LGBT letter would encapsulate her, she chose 'The b letter.'

There are those out there who believe that the singer's connection is no deeper than business savvy. And Gaga does not take that accusation lying down. She recounts a story where she ran into a gay serviceman at a Best Buy who recounted his trouble with 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell.'

"And we just held each other and cried...There's no album sale, no number 1, that could compete with this moment. That is what the f**k it's all about. What the f**k it's all about is if I can write one song that could change one person's life."
