Australian Cyclist Killed After Being Hit By Car

Australian cyclist Carly Hibberd was killed on Wednesday after getting hit by a car while training in Northern Italy, according to local newspaper InInsubria.

She was 26.

Hibberd was reportedly training with Colombian rider Diego Tamayo when she was hit. Hibberd was said to have died at the scene of the accident, while Temayo was left unharmed.

According to Cycling News, Italian police are investigating the accident.

Riders in the Tour de France started offering their condolences on Twitter once they heard the news.

Hibberd spent the 2010 season riding with Michela Fanini Record Rox, but signed with the Cassina squad this season.
