Michael Jordan Love Letter: Laquetta Robinson, Recipient, Threatens Legal Action

Woman Subject Of Michael Jordan Love Letter To Take Legal Action

A 30-year-old love letter from Michael Jordan that went viral last week now has the original recipient of the missive threatening legal action.

Laquetta Robinson, the woman whom the 18-year old Jordan wrote the letter to while he was in advanced chemistry class at Emsley A. Laney High School, says that she has no idea how it got from her possession to an auction house and then into the hands of an unknown bidder.

She first learned that the letter was no longer in her possession when she saw it on a televised news report last week.

"That was between him and me," she said. "Not anyone else. It wasn't for anyone else to have knowledge of it. That's something he wrote to me, at that time, out of his heart."

...

"First I was in shock, I mean, I was trying to figure out where it came from," Robinson added.

The love letter, which can be read in its entirety here, is partly an apology to Robinson. Jordon writes, "I felt that I made you look pretty rotten after the last night."

Robinson thinks that a family member sold the letter without her knowledge, according to WTVD-TV. She told WCTI-12, "More than anything, I wouldn't want Michael to think that I did it, cause I wouldn't want him to think that I would betray him in this way."

According to Leland's.com, the letter was sold on December 19, 2004 for $5,100.66.

Robinson's course of legal action is not yet clear.
