New Mexico Wildfire Leads To Overflowing Animal Shelter; 23 Dogs Sent To Denver Dumb Friends League

Overflowing New Mexico Animal Shelters Sending Dogs To Colo.

As a result of the New Mexico wildfires, animal shelters in the area have seen an influx of lost and stray animals. To open up more space for animal evacuees, the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society has transported 23 dogs to the Denver Dumb Friends League.

The dogs will receive health evaluations, spay/neuter surgery, microchip ID implants, and vaccinations; they will be available for adoption later this week.

Dog breeds in the transfer include Labrador retriever, Australian shepherd, German Shepherd, Chihuahua, heeler, and corgi mixes.

Castle Rock, Colorado's, "Dumb Friends League Buddy Center" also took in 11 adoptable dogs from a New Mexico shelter on Friday, July 1.
