Anna Wintour Awarded Legion Of Honor (PHOTOS)

We'd imagine it takes a lot to make Anna Wintour crack a smile.

But receiving the Legion of Honor medal at the Elysée Palace in Paris on Wednesday seemed to do the trick.

The Vogue editor-in-chief wore a navy Chanel Couture suit straight from Tuesday night's runway show to collect the prize, which was presented to her by French president Nicolas Sarkozy. (Alas, Carla Bruni was notably absent, preventing us from giving the two fashion icons the "who wore it better" treatment.)

There were, however, a cadre of fashion notables in attendance to support Wintour, including Riccardo Tisci, Donatella Versace, Franca Sozzani, Stefano Pilati, Alber Elbaz, Karl Lagerfeld and LVMH head Bernard Arnault. And, of course, they celebrated as fashion people must: they drank.

"We had this very nice cocktail," Lagerfeld told Women's Wear Daily and apparently, Wintour made a short speech.

Perhaps it included a shout-out to her fellow medal winners, including Giorgio Armani, Nicole Farhi and Lagerfeld who all received the honor last year.

Check out pics of Anna accepting her award (and smiling!) below.
