Bristol Palin On 'The View': 'That's Why It's Called Losing Your Virginity' (VIDEO)

During an appearance on ABC's "The View" on Thursday, Bristol Palin was asked by Barbara Walters about her suggestion that Levi Johnston, her ex-boyfriend and father of her son, stole her virginity.

Walters presented the question in the context of what Palin says about having sex for the first time in her recently released memoir Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far.

"I'm not accusing him of date rape or anything with that," said the 20-year-old daughter of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. "I just use that analogy of losing your virginity. That's why it's called losing your virginity."

She later added, "If I wasn't drunk, no that night wouldn't have happened."

Bristol Palin writes in her new book of losing her virginity to boyfriend Levi Johnston on a camping trip after getting drunk for the first time on too many wine coolers.

She awoke in her tent, alone, with no memories of what had happened as Johnston "talked with his friends on the other side of the canvas." She had vowed to wait until marriage. And she had lied to her parents about where she was going.

Asked about her mother's political ambitions for 2012, Palin wouldn't let any details slip.

Oh goodness, I remember reading that Levi cheated on her as often as he sharpened his hockey skates and still she kept putting out? I mean what is really good and moral at all about this girl? Too much evidence that she was so insecure, had such bad self-esteem that rather than admit she made a mistake, she just kept laying down and letting that train roll right over her, again and again. I'm sorry but she had no moral code. It was something she recited that had absolutely no meaning to her. Like those poor girls who would do anything just to be popular. You were only as popular as the guy you slept with. I mean I did feel sorry for them both but I was happy I wasn't one of them either. I'm sure even an abortion wasn't an option for Bristol. She was still thinking she had that run away train named Levi because she had his baby. Isn't that how so many other good girls got husbands? History just doesn't lie in this poor case. Same story, different year. Same girls making the same mistakes over and over again.

Every cloud has a silver lining and the best thing about Michelle Bachmann is that she will -- sooner than later -- send the Palin clan back to ignominy. Can't happen too soon though the nation's comics will likely mourn awhile.

Of course, when one comedic door closes another opens; in this case welcoming the comedic gold which is Marcus Bachmann. In a way, I kind of hope the Bachmann campaign has some legs because it will be rather amusing to see what skeletons pop out of his likely deep closet.

As a woman who lost my virginity against my will, I am ashamed of the people here who are casting their aspersions on Bristol based on their opinions of her mother. Being a young woman is hard when you are finding out what love is and, more importantly, what it isn't. We grow up looking for the love that we knew as little girls, and sometimes we make mistakes that stay with us for life. Throw stones if you have never made your own mistakes. It is very easy to make snide remarks about someone... but it isn't funny.

She got drunk and did the deed with one who was (likely) equally drunk. That's unfortunate but that does NOT make her sympathetic. In fact, her "poor me" media blitz makes her anything BUT sympathetic.

AND if it weren't for her mama's celebrity, Bristol Palin would not be appearing on The View, now would she? Can't have it both ways, my friend; she either accepts the baggage that comes with her 15 minutes of fame or she goes quietly away. It is not like anyone FORCED her to appear on TV.

As an Alaskan I feel I must defend this young woman or any young woman from the slaenderness comments on this site, Most of you are pathic and show very little class, I would bet all your mom's are proud of these comments, saying the things you are saying and don't really have a clue who she is other than her being her mothers daughter. ha, ha I'm sorry but I have met people from Alaska who are just smarter than this. Bristol is so not original. As for her mother, if it wasn't for the very bad example her mother is making for her children, Bristol would not be on a book tour. Can we get someone who actually did say no to be a spokesperson for abstinence? What? You say the good girls won't do it? Only the bad ones are willing to get up on stage and lie about sex in the teenage years. Figures. No wonder the program never works. But safe use of birth control does. Please use birth control, especially if you are a guy. This is what teen boys are facing and they are the ones who need a better sex education.

What we really need for Levi to say, don't be a fool like I was. Use protection. Now that would be information that is useful.
