Experimental genre books just seems wrong but I can't think how to re-phrase it (maybe experiments in genre or experiments with genre). They aren't experimental genres they are the familiar, common genres.

Not sure if it quite fits but The Queue by Sorokin is one odd book. The entire story takes place in a line of Russians waiting for something...
