Personally, ever since reading Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I've become addicted to Scandinavian crime fiction. Mankell, Nesbo, Nesser, Indridassun, Fossum, Theorin, I just can't seem to get enough. They make most American mysteries seem pedestrian by comparison, and I can't really tell you why.
