Family, Friends Say Goodbye To Kevin Kennelly Jr., Teen Killed In Indiana Beach Fight

Chicago Sun-Times:

Kennelly, 17, died Wednesday of blunt force trauma to the head two days after he was involved in a fight on a beach in Indiana, authorities said. The Beverly teen was set to be a senior at Mount Carmel in the fall.

James K. Malecek, 19, of Lakeview, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, aggravated battery and battery in Kennelly's death.

I would need to know who.started the fight. If the one that died started the fight then other one was in his rights to me to beat him down. If the aggressor was the one that survived then ten years in prison should do it.

From the stories and personal accounts, Kevin tried to break up what was going to be a fight and tried to hold Malacek back from attacking someone else. Malacek instead attacked Kevin and killed him.

This was a Chicago kid (Malacek) who brought his own brand of violence to a very peaceful community.

Ten years in prison isn't enough for taking someone's life. Life in prison is enough.
