Casey Anthony Facebook Scam Claims Phony 'Confession' Video Links

Watch Out For Casey Anthony Confession Scam On Facebook

There is no leaked video of Casey Anthony confessing to her lawyer, no matter what your Facebook news feed tells you.

All Facebook reports that the newest Facebook scam claims to offer a video of Casey Anthony admitting that she killed her two-year-old daughter Caylee. Anthony was recently acquitted of murder charges in Florida.

The post includes the headline "BREAKING NEWS - Leaked Video of Casey Anthony CONFESSING to Lawyer!" A brief description, typos included, follows: "Click To See - She can't be re-tried, double jeopordy... OJ all over again!"

Snopes has verified that the post is, indeed, a scam.

Clicking on the video leads you to a webpage outside Facebook where you are asked to verify that you are over 13 years old. If you confirm that you are, that information belongs to the scammers, and the Casey Anthony scam will be posted to your wall and shared with all of your friends. You will then be taken to a page where you are asked to fill out a survey before you view the video. When you finish that survey, you will be asked to finish another survey; and so on and so forth. Your survey completions, meanwhile, make the scammers money.

"Casey Anthony Confesses" is just the latest in the near-constant stream of Facebook scam attempts. If you fell for the Casey Anthony scam (or any other Facebook scams), HuffPost Tech has you covered: here are the steps necessary to win back your profile.
