'The Dark Knight Rises' Teaser Poster Hits Web (PHOTO)

From the rubble of a city, a broken hero must rise again.

Warner Bros. has released the first teaser poster for the third and final Christopher Nolan-directed Batman film, "The Dark Knight Rises," and it's as dark and mysterious as one might expect. Panning up through a seemingly post-apocalyptic Gotham, the famous Bat signal tears through the roofs of shattered buildings, calling on their hero in a time of desperation.

The problem, though, is that Batman -- played once again by Christian Bale -- will at some point be incapacitated by Tom Hardy's Bane, a super serum-pumped runaway from Arkham Asylum. Of course, that teases the Dark Knight's rising up, but that's enough of the spoilers for now.

Christian Bale will take his final turn Batman, with Gary Oldman back as Commissioner Gordon and Joseph Gordon-Levitt playing a new ally in the Gotham Police Department. Anne Hathaway will take on Selena Kyle/Catwoman, while Marion Cotillard is slated to play Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises employee. Josh Pence is going evil as young Ra's al Ghul, and Matthew Modine and Joey King also have small parts in the film.

While you're taking in this poster, check out earlier marketing material, including a foreboding shot of Bane.

The poster can be found at the film's official site, too.

Awesome. I wish Nolan directed the Wanted movie. The movie didn't do justice to the graphic novel.

I am just not going to expect anything from this, because experience has taught me that the minute i raise expectation on a sequel they will disappoint me.

Holy Worm's-Eye View of Buildings Crumbling Down to Form The Bat-Signal!

If this movie is half as good as the last one, it'll be a classic!

If that sample came across my desk I would have only four words for it "I like it. Greenlight".

I think Bale and Michael Keaton were the best Batmans. George Clooney, perhaps through no fault of his own, was the worst.

Yes it was. He just said his lines and collected a paycheck. Notice how his Batman voice is not even slightly different than his regular voice. And what's with the annoying head bobbing?

Hoping it's as good as the last one. But seeing as the stand-out in the last film was the villain, my hopes arn't that high. Here's to being surprised?

The poster tells me it will be all CGI and special effects with little or no engaging plot

Is Morgan Freeman back? I know his character doesn't have that many major scenes in the movie but he just complements the story line really well

Isn't Bane a super heavy weighted villain that could shake buildings.
