Chromeo's 10 Hottest Songs For Summer: HuffPost Playlist

Chromeo's 10 Hottest Songs For Summer

Whether you've seen them on MTV (their breakout single "Fancy Footwork" received massive video playtime), watched them scorch festival stages from Coachella to Camp Bisco to this year's Electric Zoo Festival in New York or asked your house-party laptop-DJ what band made that insanely danceable, singable song he just played, chances are that Chromeo has found you.

And the electro-dance, feel-good duo of Dave 1 and P-Thugg isn't resting. They're embarking on a nationwide tour and continually releasing remixes of singles from their last album, Business Casual. Dave 1 (nee David Macklovitch), who describes himself as a "neurotic Jewish, Larry David version of the white blazer 80s crooner," chatted with The Huffington Post about the tour, the band's vision for their much-lauded live shows, and those infamous legs.

But first, here's an exclusive playlist of the 10 songs Dave's feeling most this summer. And be sure to check back for more HuffPost Playlists. Next up: Samantha Ronson.

Chromeo feat. Solange Knowles "When The Night Falls" (Breakbot Remix)"Here's our new single, with the lovely Solange on chorus duties. It was already a bubbly boogie track for the steppers, but Breakbot gave it even more of a summery vibe, with big drums to make it club-friendly, too. Nice job, Frenchy."

Up Next: The Rapture "How Deep Is Your Love?"

The Rapture "How Deep Is Your Love?""The Rapture's comeback was produced and mixed by French legend Zdar, who mixes all our stuff as well. I first heard this a year ago when we were wrapping up, and couldn't wait to listen to it again. It's all about the vocals with those guys... what an amazing singer. When he belts out "Hallelujah!" at the end it truly gives me shivers!"

Up Next: SBTRKT feat. Little Dragon & Drake "Wildfire"

SBTRKT feat. Little Dragon & Drake "Wildfire""I guess this is the most buzzed about song at the moment, right? In any case, it's a catchy one. Nice, minimal production and, once again, a phenomenal vocal performance from the Little Dragon chick. Add a nice verse from Drizzy, too...he went in hard!"

Up Next: DJ Khaled feat. Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne "I'm On One"

DJ Khaled feat. Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne "I'm On One""Objectively speaking, this is the best rap song of the year. What a great beat: melodic and subdued. And such great melodies from Drizzy-boy. I've listened to this over 500 times since it came out."

Up Next: The-Dream "Body Work/F**k My Brains Out"

The-Dream "Body Work/F**k My Brains Out""Subjectively speaking, this is the best song of the year. I've been a fan of The-Dream since day one, and on each one of his albums, he has a Prince-sounding track, which speaks to me, for obvious reasons. But this new one is a two-part, 10-minute opus, which starts as a post-Jodeci slowjam before double-timing into impeccably produced 80s dance madness. The lyrics in the second half are amazing, too."

Up Next: Frank Ocean "Acura Integurl"

Frank Ocean "Acura Integurl""This track is barely 2 minutes. Just Frank Ocean singing over a half-assed piano loop. And it's perfect. His voice modulations blew my mind. His subject matter, too. What a gifted songwriter. I think we might have the next R.Kelly on our hands. (Coming from me, that's a massive compliment, by the way.)"

Up Next: Carte Blanche feat. Alexis Taylor "With You"

Carte Blanche feat. Alexis Taylor "With You""Carte Blance is a house duo helmed by our good friend DJ Mehdi from Paris. Their new track features yet another phenomenal vocalist (is this the theme of this post or what?): Alexis from Hot Chip. How many club tracks would you actually listen to at home on headphones? Here's one."

Up Next: Bon Iver "Beth/Rest"

Bon Iver "Beth/Rest""Wow, the vocalist theme again. Here's the closer from Iver's latest, critically lauded, obtuse masterpiece. As you've probably heard, it's quite the homage to Phil Collins and Bruce Hornsby. Amazing. I would add Seal and "Walking In Memphis", personally. What do all these people have in common? Two words: Yamaha DX7."

Up Next: The Weeknd "The Birds (Part 1)"

The Weeknd "The Birds (Part 1)""This Toronto kid gave his impeccably produced and packaged record away for free a few months ago, and it's easily the best album of 2011, no big deal. Here's a new track from the guy and it's equally genius: military drums, acoustic guitars, a bunch of Portishead sound effect and beautiful falsetto vocals. Portishead R&B...why didn't I think of that?"

Up Next: Duck Sauce "Big Bad Wolf"

Duck Sauce "Big Bad Wolf" "Alright let me finish by bigging up the other Macklovitch in the music game (Ed. note: A-Trak is Dave's brother). My brother's dance supergroup arguably created the world's biggest tune (and best video, ahem ahem) last year with "Barbra Streisand" (again, no big deal), and for the follow up, well, they went weird. But no less catchy. This minimal club banger has people going crazy when the wolf comes on. You've read right: a howling wolf does come on."
