Lawrence O'Donnell: Newsweek's Sarah Palin Cover 'Pathetic,' 'Desperate' (VIDEO)

O'Donnell Rails Against 'Pathetic' Newsweek Palin Article

Lawrence O'Donnell railed against Newsweek magazine for its lengthy cover story on Sarah Palin, calling it a "desperate," "pathetic" and "absurdist" puff piece that was dishonest about Palin's true political intentions.

The cover of Newsweek's most recent issue quoted Palin discussing the 2012 presidential race and saying, "I can win." On his Monday show, O'Donnell, citing polls showing Palin's very low approval ratings, said that this was a ridiculous notion, and that Palin was lying about her intentions to run.

But O'Donnell had even more unkind things to say about the magazine itself. He called it "the fastest sinking ship on the newsstand" and said that the Palin cover was a "desperate attempt to boost newsstand sales."

Sarah Palin, he said, "is never going to run for president or any other elective office," and it was "utterly absurdist" of Newsweek to say that she might. (Of course, it's not impossible that Palin will run--though O'Donnell seems very sure that she won't.)
