Letterman Jokes About Theater Break-In: 'I'm Told Jay Has An Alibi' (VIDEO)

David Letterman's Ed Sullivan Theater was vandalized over the weekend by a drunken out-of-work actor, so it's no surprise that the incident got some monologue time on Monday night's "Late Show."

Letterman started the show by asking the audience how they got in, and made light of the situation with a subtle jab at Jay Leno, naturally:

"I'm told now that Jay has an alibi."

Letterman continued his monologue as usual but if you skip toward the end, you'll see he is alerted that CBS security footage had picked up the break-in. Let's just say the perp appears to be someone Letterman knows very, very well.

It's also worth mentioning that Leno obviously anticipated Letterman's joke about his being the intruder. Watch the second clip below to see the CBS security footage as imagined by Leno's writing staff.
